It’s finally thanksgiving, one of my favourite times of the year… It’s one of the few times I manage to reunite the entire family for sharing sweet, joyful times together and create whole new memories that will stay within each others’ hearts forever. But it’s also one of the few times of the year that I don’t have to make up excuses for redecorating the entire house, buy exquisite food to prepare the feast and, of course, renewing my wardrobe!
The Thanksgiving’ mood I chose for this year is inspired in a picture from Vogue, the first one of this article. I love the way the magazine has reinterpreted the traditional thanksgiving of our grandmothers and grandfathers as we recall it. The typical dishes – the bourbon-roasted turkey, popcorn-bread stuffing with chili flakes, seasonal vegetables and sweet potato–and–marshmallow soufflé – carefully displayed in a conventional and rudimentary yet soothing and inviting table setting that certainly makes us all feel like we’re home again. For this article, Vogue has invited Jean-Georges Vongerichten from ABC Kitchen’s to suggest Seven Thanksgiving recipes that you can read here. If you’re willing to try this year a different and traditional, old new Thanksgiving this is definitely the picture you would want to follow.
I leave you now with the mood board I’m following to get inspired for my special Thanksgiving later on today. Hope you love it! Feel free to share your inspirations here…
With love, Janet Morais.
