Dior’s Home Décor Debut

Dior’s Home Décor Debut
Famed French fashion designer Christian Dior was known to say, “Living in a house that doesn’t reflect who you are is akin to wearing someone else’s clothes.” Fifty-nine years have come and gone since Monsieur Dior’s passing but his mantra still rings true as his moniker fashion house debuts its new home décor collection.

Welcome to Dior heaven.
Dior’s debut home collection is unveiled in an equally impressive new store located in the Mayfair district of London. Designed by the notable Peter Marino (who else!), the four-story store’s impressive size houses a Dior wonderland under one roof spanning from accessories to clothing, Dior Home to Baby Dior, sprinkled intermittently with watches and fine jewelry, while simultaneously holding three couture salons and a basement Dior Homme boutique.

Marino designed the Home section to mimic a luxurious conservatory, covering the walls in greenery and glass paneled ceilings that allow the natural light to reflect off of the decadent home décor. The home line features a range of pieces including hand-blown glass carafes, ceramic plates, decks of Dior-printed playing cards, notebooks, crystal glassware, and hand-embroidered linens. The haute couture brand recruited 11 designers to create pieces for the line, and plan to rotate the artists and designers each season for fresh creations.

Although Mr. Dior is not here himself to see the brand’s exploration into home décor, the line pays homage to the late designer by channeling his traits like his love of flowers, use of grey and pink and feminine silhouettes. The line also draws inspiration from the interior design of Dior’s personal residences during his lifetime.

Christian Dior’s love of flora began as a young boy and was transposed into his famous fashion house designs and fragrances as an adult. Luxury furniture brand, KOKET also draws inspiration from the beauty of blossoms, seen in the floral accents and silhouettes seen within the designs.
