Tristan Auer: Maison & Objet Paris 2017 Designer of the Year and Car Tailor Extraordinaire

The semi-annual world-renowned design event Maison & Objet Paris came to a close this week and as always it inspired and delighted all who attended with spectacular creations from both established and new brands and artisans who came from around the world to exhibit their designs! Each year Maison & Objet selects a designer to recognize for their work, this year the exceptionally talented interior designer and architect Tristan Auer was awarded the highly coveted status of Maison & Objet’s Designer of the Year.

In honor of this award, Tristan was given the opportunity to create a stand dedicated to his career at the September 2017 edition of M&O Paris. And in the true style of a designer genius Tristan created an uncluttered and sensuous exhibit that showcased his extensive portfolio of design creations and new Car Tailoring services, while offering a space for visitors to take a “magical time-out” from the endless aisles of the fair.

After working with some of the greatest names in interior and product design such as Christian Liaigre and Philippe Starck, Tristan developed his own individual style and launched his firm Izeu in 2002. Eclectic, bespoke, couture and bold, seamlessly combining periods from baroque to contemporary, his signature style leads to unified, original, functional and personalized spaces, the essence of French art de vivre.

“I like to get carried away in adventures and be close to my clients. The ideal is to ensure that the design and decoration soften their lives.”

In addition to his interiors he has designed stunning products for renowned luxury furniture brands such as Pouenat, Contardi, Holly Hunt, Taillardat, Christophe Delcourt, Ozone, etc. He has also consulted for several real estate and hotel companies, sharing his keen knowledge of luxury and French know-how to help them strengthen their brand images.

Wilson Associates describes the unique atelier, “The strategy reflects many iconic fashion brands birthed in Paris. While the ever-luxurious Chanel brand can be found all over the world, haute couture Chanel can only be created in Madame Coco Chanel’s apartment in Paris. In the same way, Wilson Associates brings an unparalleled quality of design and service to its clients across the world, yet the Atelier will be reserved for the upper-echelon of tailor-made design.”
“Our goal is to create a custom experience for our clients from the moment they walk into our Atelier,” said Tristan. “From the way we receive clients to the deliverables we present, the end result will be unlike anything they’ve ever seen.”

Each of Tristan’s interiors is distinctly unique, he strives to spark emotion while creating atmospheres that resemble their users. Instead of looking to the world for inspiration, Tristan listens to his clients’ needs and desires and closely studies their spaces, the volume, the light. He then mixes and layers styles, eras, and colors using the finest artisans to create harmonious interiors.

Tristan’s desire to always use the finest artisans is exemplified in his work as part of the recent renovation of the Paris Hotel de Crillon. For this project, he supported his local community by only collaborating with French companies and he took great care in distributing the work fairly among the various artisans so everyone could showcase their very best work.

Tristan’s passion for vintage cars and road trips, symbols of timelessness he says, fueled his newest venture, a bespoke Car Tailoring service. With the same attention to detail and use of the finest materials as seen in his architectural spaces, Tristan customizes the interiors of classic vehicles, imagine nubuck ceilings, matte leather dashboards and cashmere lined door pockets. In his exhibit at M&O Paris Tristan debuted his Car Tailoring service with the impeccable vintage Ferrari seen below.
