Alexander Wang is notorious for throwing spectacular afterparties during fashion week and this season he brought back #WANGFEST, an over-the-top afterparty you definitely wish you had been at! Wang alluded to the party’s wild nature in his show, featuring models like Kylie Jenner wearing headpieces referencing his afterparty.

In tune with the media frenzy of NYFW Calvin Klein, along with many other brands, opted for an evening show. Creative head Raf Simons, who recently renamed the brand Calvin Klein 205W39NYC in an attempt to differentiate its new sense of high-priced luxury wear, put on a true celebrity-social media driven spectacle with his American horror inspired collection titled “Sophomore.” Complete with blood-stains this collection is certainly a new form of luxury.

TOM FORD S/S 2018

New York Fashion Week 2017 - Tom Ford Spring 2018 - SS18 NYFW - Fucking Fabulous - black pant suit - womens tuxedo jacket
The power suit makes a comeback in Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection which was debuted at the Park Avenue Armory where each guest received a bottle of Ford’s new and widely scrutinized perfume Fucking Fabulous (we think it really is fucking fabulous too – check out our article on its release). The collection featured structured styles inspired by the design of his men’s suits paired with slouchy pants and mini skirts for a feminine flair. This mix of structure and looseness can be seen in the jacket shown here with its pronounced shoulders and oversized lapels paired with flowing pants.

MARC JACOBS S/S 2018

On board with the bright color theme seen throughout the runways of NYFW, Marc Jacobs presented an exotic collection featuring rich prints and colors. His tropical-inspired pieces included turbans like the one shown here on model Kair Gerber. The 16-year old daughter of Cindy Crawford made her first live fashion show appearance on Calvin Klein’s runway on the second day of NYFW, she was then part of several other huge shows and, as the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty, she had the honor of closing his show at the end of fashion week in this stunning yellow beaded gown.

RALPH LAUREN Fall 2017

New York Fashion Week 2017 - Ralph Lauren Fall 2017 NYFW - Fall-Winter 2017 - luxury car garage fashion show - tuxedo black pants suit
We love this racy tuxedo inspired black dress by Ralph Lauren for his Fall 2017 collection, and we really love the story of where it was debuted during New York Fashion Week 2017!
For his evening show, Ralph Lauren chauffeured the show guests to his Bedford, NY estate, two hours outside the city, to experience his new collection among his exquisite private car collection. Comprised of nearly $400 million worth of rare Ferraris, McLarens and more, the collection also includes possibly one of the world’s most expensive cars a 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic worth an estimated $40 million!
“My cars have always been an inspiration to me. I see them as moving art. My women’s collection for Fall 2017 connects the elements of the speed, style and beauty of these handcrafted vehicles with the very modern, yet timeless spirit of the clothes” said Ralph Lauren.
The collection featured both men’s and women’s wear for the first time, which Lauren explained was to “heighten the experience” and “create the ultimate expression of style and luxury for the woman and man of today.”
After the show, guests enjoyed a sit down dinner before being driven back to the city. Now that is a show!

DIANE VON FURSTENBERG S/S 2018

New York Fashion Week 2017 - Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2018 NYFW - green silk dress with fringe - 70s inspired dresses - Jonathan Saunders - v-neck dress - DVF
Driven by the question, “How do you translate ’70s glamour and nostalgia for the past using innovative fabrics?”, Diane von Furstenberg’s designer Jonathan Saunders’ Spring/Summer 2018 styles eloquently channel ’70s vibes while still feeling fresh and current. This green silk v-neck dress with fringe that swirls from top to bottom was our favorite DVF look!

PRABAL GURUNG S/S 2018

New York Fashion Week 2017 Prabal Gurung Spring 2018 NYFW - fashion activism
Prabal Gurung used his runway show platform to promote change. He began the show with the Activist’s Prayer: “Grant me the strength to change the things I cannot accept,” a timely move given Fashion Week’s place amidst headlines about Hurricane Irma and other global catastrophes. This sexy red cut-out dress was a sure winner for us!
