Rihanna and LVMH: A Monumental Alliance

Rihanna, the “Wild Thoughts” songstress, proves her innovation to the world once again. But this time in fashion. Rihanna is no stranger to luxury and now she will partner with one of the industry’s most prestigious fashion holding groups, LVMH. This monumental alliance makes Robyn Rihanna Fenty the first woman and person of color to create an original brand at LVMH. LVMH is partnering with Rihanna and her brand FENTY for her first clothing collection.

Starting online on May 29th and in a pop-up store in Paris on May 24th, the new FENTY collection will showcase ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, and eyewear. Musically, Rihanna has always sought to be inclusive transcending racial lines and sex; her fashion will be no exception. Rihanna shares in LVMH’s global influence, which made her an excellent candidate for joining their platform.

Rihanna is unapologetically herself, a black woman from Barbados, but also a universal icon that impacts a myriad of fans. This collaboration with LVMH is a current reminder of the new climate in which we live. The fashion world is changing, and our consciousness of the diversity around us is taking center stage. Rihanna’s presence at LVMH empowers both women and minorities everywhere to take strides in fashion.

Statistically speaking, women tend to spend more on clothing and beauty products than men; So, it is only natural that our presence should be felt in the creative process. Rihanna’s, FENTY beauty line, generated $500 million within its first year. She has earned her place as the first woman of color at the top of an LVMH Maison. CEO Bernard Arnault, provided Rihanna with a multicultural team and resources to fully support her venture. He describes Rihanna as a true entrepreneur and leader. Her success inspires and advocates diversity in luxury design.

FENTY is the first line created and launched by LVMH since Christian Lacroix in 1987, nearly two decades ago. The luxury brand’s partnerships may be few and far between, but Rihanna added a unique flavor that Arnault felt was worthy of making the list. If the FENTY line is any representation of Rihanna’s versatility, it will mirror edgy and sultry, but also elegant and illustrious.

Congrats to LVMH for providing the fashion world with the same inclusivity that Rihanna provides in her artistry. It may have started as a wild thought, but now it shines bright like a diamond!
