Torel 1884: A New Oasis Paradise in Oporto

In the heart of the city of Oporto, Portugal, just a few blocks from Avenida dos Aliados and the riverfront area of Ribeira, sits the new Torel 1884 Suites & Apartments. The preservation of the structure was essential in keeping the space’s original beauty. This boutique hotel and residential building is characterized by its large round-top windows, glorious high ceilings, and a stunning central staircase.

The architect was Miguel Nogueira and the interior design was by the Portuguese firm, Nano Design. The theme of this hotel is Portugal’s maritime explorations and exotic discoveries. Such as materials and animals that Portuguese people have brought to their country.
Themed Spaces
This oasis palace is composed of 12 rooms and suites. Each floor honors a different country. The ground floor is Africa, the first-floor honors the Americas and an elegant Asian theme takes over the second floor.

Each room has an individual name to reflect the country that inspires its experience and flavors. Green, brown, ocean blue, terracotta, and beige are the colors that you will see the most. The spaces are adorned with textures, linen, cotton, bamboo, raffia, cane, ceramics, porcelain, and contemporary artworks.

Art & Craftsmanship
Craftsmanship and traditional art are all over the hotel. Portuguese talent is on full display in the artwork of Jorge Curval and João Pedro Rodrigues. Rodrigue’s installation resides in the entrance and is based on Luís Camões poem “Os Lusíadas”.
