The 2019 edition of Design Miami/ begins December 3rd and runs through December 8th. The fair, which runs alongside Art Basel, brings together renowned collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from around the world. A celebration of design culture and premier venue for collectible design, the showcase not only offers a marketplace, but amazing and unique collaborations with designers, and lecturers from the world of design. This includes architects, fashion designers, professors, celebrities, etc. If you are looking for the most impressive art and art influencers globally Miami is where you need to be!

KOKET is Heading to Design Miami
Design Miami 2019 has an exciting new exhibitor; our very own publisher, KOKET! Adored luxury decor brand KOKET has partnered with MMendezVela Design Collection to display their designs. The ongoing collaboration will debut during the fair with a special event on December 3rd. Love Happens will be there too – hope to see you there!
This will be KOKET’s first-ever exhibition during the renowned fair. MendezVela and KOKET met on one of the firm’s stunning design projects and a love affair began. KOKET’s bold and alluring designs will be displayed in MendezVela’s beautiful showroom set in the Miami Design District starting this December and ongoing throughout 2020 and beyond!
To celebrate the collaboration KOKET and Love Happens will be co-hosting an event with MendezVela and special guest Luis Onofre shoes. The ‘Koktails with KOKET’ event will be held on December 3rd from 6 pm – 9 pm in MendezVela’s showroom located at 4141 NE 2nd Ave. #203C – all design lovers are welcome!
Displayed in a beautifully curated vignette set inside MendezVela’s stunning space, KOKET’s statement designs and the newest edition of Love Happens, a celebration of the green side of luxury, await!

Prada Escape
Designer brand; Prada is launching a special project featuring men’s and women’s ready-to-wear accessories and lifestyle collections called Prada Escape during the fair. Perfect for the world traveler bouncing from city to city and still managing high fashion look. Prada Escapes will be available at the Prada Boutique from November 27th to December 15th.

Versace x Sasha Bikoff
A new collaboration from Versace and renowned interior designer, Sasha Bikoff will debut at this year’s fair. Uniquely designed and inspired furniture pieces will be blended with the heritage of Versace. The exhibition will display three settings designed by Bikoff.

Emilio Robba
Emilio Robba will be presenting their newest floral sculptures in an interactive experience. While also presenting a week full of Visual Arts, Design and Photography too. Nathalia Piedrahita will also perform a live painting and interactive installation. 10% of proceeds from this exhibition will go to the National Young Arts Foundation.

Sevan Bıçakçı
Sevan Bıçakçı is an incredibly talented and renowned jeweler and craftsman. He strongly believes each piece of jewelry should be as unique as its owner. His goal is to reinvent the solitaire diamond ring, to stand out from all other 6-prong set diamond rings. The blended jewelry and work of art will be on display at the fair.

Balenciaga
The luxury and renowned brand, Balenciaga, is pairing with a graffiti artist for this years event. The graffiti artist will be available through the show to customize a selection of Balenciaga bags from the new Winter 19 collection. Customize with your designer bag with your name, initials or birthdate.

Art Tours
Miami Design District is partnering with Art Encounters for free guided tours throughout the neighborhoods. The neighborhood’s included world-renowned public art. Margery Gordon, the art critic, and journalist, leads two tours a month. She educates on the public artworks and architectural design throughout the neighborhoods.

Pink Beasts by Fernando Laposse
The Miami Design District chose Fernando Laposse for its 2019 commission. Laposse is a London-based Mexican designer. He created the installation, Pink Beasts, in partnership with Angela Damman and other local artisans in Sahcabá, Yucatán. Laposse and his team used materials and techniques native to Mexico to created thousands of long pink sisal tassels suspended through the trees. The purpose is to guide visitors to discover a family of pink sloths hanging from trees through the neighborhood. Inviting visitors to slow down, like the sloths!

For Design Miami/ 2019 Balenciaga has collaborated with artist, architect, and furniture designer Harry Nuriev to advocate for environmental accountability by creating a functional artwork using discarded Balenciaga clothing.

FENDI Presents Roman Molds by Kueng Caputo

FENDI has commissioned the Zurich-based design studio Kueng Caputo (Lovis Caputo and Sarah Kueng) to create ten design pieces intended to decorate the exterior colonnade of its iconic headquarters, the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, on the Roman outskirts.

Gemfields Presents A Story in Every Gemstone

Art Basel in Miami Beach 2019

And while you are in Miami be sure to check out Art Basel in Miami Beach 2019 running concurrently to Design Miami from December 5 – 8. During this edition of the renowned Art Basel fair, leading galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia show significant work from the masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well as the new generation of emerging stars. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, and editioned works of the highest quality are on display in the main exhibition hall.
