Female Empowerment: 5 Ways To Lift Each Other Up!
There’s no doubt about it. We still live in a patriarchal society. Granted, it’s not as restricting as it was back in the 18th and 19th centuries, it’s still there. Thus making female empowerment still very much a thing!
It’s in the workplace that your salary is decided, it’s there when you have to choose between a family and your career, and it’s there in so many other ways you probably don’t realize because it’s so normalized.
That’s why women have to stick together and lift each other up. Honestly, isn’t it refreshing when you encounter another woman who is genuine and friendly? You might not even know her, it might just be a pleasant encounter where she held the door for you with a smile as you struggled with your children, but small gestures are just as powerful.
It’s essential that we, as women, stick together and lift each other up––a sisterhood, if you will.
Okay, so now you’re probably thinking…
“Yeah, I like the ring of that, but where do I start?”
No worries, we’ve got five simple ways you can brighten a fellow female’s day!
1. Say Hello!
When did we become such an anti-social society? Well, surely it has something to do with technology, but that’s a whole different conversation!
In a world where people are glued to their phones, merely saying hello to someone can brighten someone’s day. We never know what the next person is going through, and how far a simple smile and greeting will go.
The power of saying hello to others is highly underrated. We should all aim to be the light that brightens another’s day.
2. Compliments Are Encouraged
Have you had one of those days that you just threw a look together and felt kinda…blah? And then a nice woman complimented you on something, and it just sparked you up and made you feel a little more confident throughout the day?
Yes, it happens, and it makes us all perk up a little bit because it’s nice to feel appreciated. So, give it a try, complement another lady in passing. You’ll be surprised how good it makes you feel to compliment someone!
3. A Sisterhood Never Hurts
As women, we always have our “tribe”––our little Sex In The City crew! We need our crew to turn to for advice, vent about our problems, and support in so many other ways.
This idea is amplified if you have kids. Many women feel abandoned when they get pregnant, especially if their friends are still single and mingling. Having a sisterhood to turn to for support when you have children is an absolute game-changer. You guys can swap off on babysitting nights, take the kids on playdates, and much more.
4. Support Female Entrepreneurs
We’re definitely in a transformative time. Women are changing the narrative and creating profitable businesses and allowing them to delegate their responsibilities in a way that works best for them.
Because if we’re honest, it’s hard for a lot of women to work 40 + hours a week and still be there for their kids the way they want. That’s where entrepreneurship comes in handy! Support female-owned businesses, especially those minority-owned businesses, because they are the minority in a male-dominated industry and society.
When you see a woman, who’s launched a new business, purchase some stuff and show your support. If they having an event, go and show support! This in itself speaks volumes––when people show up for you!
5. Just Be There…
We all encounter hard times…it’s life…what would it even be without those challenging times that ultimately help us grow? What makes times like that a little easier is knowing that you have dependable women in your corner.
Maybe you’ve just met someone who’s having a hard time; it’s okay to extend help or advice if it’s within your comfort zone and abilities. At times, it’s a stranger who goes out on a limb for us and is just there when we need them to be.
Whatever it is that we encounter in life, it feels good to know that we have people who care about what happens to us!
Things To Remember
One of the most amazing aspects of life is that we’re all walking our own journey––here for a different purpose. Sometimes, that journey feels stressful or tedious, and we look for ways to eliminate stress.
Sometimes, portable vape pens are the way to go. Other times, we need a shoulder to cry on, or somebody yelling in the metaphorical bleachers for us––you go, girl!
Most of all, what we want you to carry with you is that we are all sharing the experience of womanhood––the joy, the pain, and struggles–everything.
So, let’s lift each other up and show each other the support on the day to day that carries the power to change the course of our whole day!
