SEPT – The Fashion Finder App That Gets You
We’ve all been there. We have an event to go to and we need a new look for it. And so begins the tumultuous journey for a new outfit. The feeling of pure dread seeps into our bodies as we know that it is going to take hours and hours of scrolling through online shopping websites. And for what? To see the same thing over and over again? What about originality? Flare? Pizzazz? What about me? We can’t find anything that fits our unique style and personality and eventually, we give up and settle for what’s already in our closet. Why does finding a bomb outfit have to be so time-consuming and difficult? Those were the thoughts of Bahraini Yara AlDhaen (link), Law degree having, entrepreneur, CEO, and founder of SEPT, your personalized fashion finder app platform.
Tired of shopping in the traditional way, Yara AlDhaen created Sept for the Arab woman. A fashion app catered to you and your tastes, the SEPT algorithm acts similarly to Netflix or Spotify, making fashion personal to you. Think online personal shopper. The idea sparked while AlDhaen was struggling to find an outfit for a wedding. She then got to thinking about how she could improve the way we all shop. Fashion is so personal to the individual, why isn’t there an app for that? So, she created an app for that. Although AlDhaen was unfamiliar with the app development world and coding she knew that she needed to find a strong team to help embody her vision and she did just that.
How It Works
The SEPT experience begins with a 30-second quiz to get to know you, your style preferences, and brands you love (and it’s really fun). SEPT offers brands like Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Prada, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Fendi, Saint Laurent, and so much more. The fashion finder app has a “For Me Today” tab that correlates to how you answered the quiz and how you swipe. The more you swipe on items that are “ME” (right) or “NOT ME” (Left) the more SEPT gets to know YOU. I mean, can it get any better? Yes. In the social tab, it shows you what is trending, so what other SEPT app users are swiping right on. In that same tab, it shows you SEPT’s picks where you can also swipe right or left. However this time there will be things that may not be in your “For Me Today” tab. If you’re liking something, you can tap on the photo and either click “Buy” or “Wish”. If you click “Buy” it redirects you to an E-Retailer (think NAP, Farfetch, Matches Fashion, and Moda Operandi). SEPT is very user-friendly and it makes shopping fun! Yara AlDHaen has created a truly revolutionary way to shop as if you had your very own online personal shopper.
One of AlDhaen’s goals in designing this fashion app was that no two feeds would ever look the same because why would they when no two people’s styles are the same? SEPT is about feeling good about who you are today. That’s the real luxury, being who you are in a world which tells you to be like everyone else.
