The Lh Design Questionnaire with Brittany Farinas of House of One
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness is not just one thing or moment. It happens when you least expect it, and in so many ways. Perfect happiness for me can come from a successful design meeting with a client, a cup of coffee in the morning, or listening to my favorite song.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement is being able to grow my company and organizing/mentoring an amazing team.
What profession does your alter ego have?
My alter ego is definitely a fashion designer.
The project you will never forget.
A project I will never forget is our N Bay Rd project. This was my client’s first home, and we worked very closely to tailor it to his needs and taste. All throughout working on this project, my client and I had an admiration for this Mediterranean-inspired home on the corner of his street. About a couple of months after moving into his home—the house on the corner went up for sale… To make a long story short, we are now finishing up renovating that home, which we have completely transformed as our second project together. Stay tuned for the reveal!
Your favourite business tool or resource.
The most timeless design.
I think the most timeless designs have very clear symmetry with a focal point, stay away from trends, and are composed of high-quality furnishings.
The biggest design faux pas.
Your design motto.
The art of living with style.
Our publisher KOKET makes statement décor, if you were to design a room around one KOKET piece, which would it be, and why?
I would love to design a space around the Euphoria Screen. It’s a timeless piece with an unexpected pattern. It’s soft and romantic and can act as a conversational piece in any space.
Love happens when…
You stop thinking too much and just live in a moment of happiness and gratefulness.
