What is your idea of perfect happiness?

My idea of perfect happiness boils down to one word: peace. Peace in what you do, peace in how you live, and peace in your approach to life.

In the words of Syed Balkhi—happiness is the new rich. Inner peace is the new success. Health is the new wealth. Kindness is the new cool.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

There are so many achievements that I would consider great and for which I’m so grateful for, however, one of those that I am so proud of is how far our interior design studio has come. We’ve come a long way since the early days of my career when I first promoted my interior design services online charging $99 for a two-hour consultation. Gradually, my client list grew through word-of-mouth and, although Sire Design’s first project brought in roughly $2,000, our firm now takes on projects with revenues up to $1,000,000.

We have the privilege of currently working on over 19 projects, allowing us to gradually grow our team in efforts to cater to the wonderful clients we impact with our work. I am so proud of how the studio has evolved—to reflect on where we are now, after starting this company 10 years ago, blows me away every day. I am so grateful for the journey and for my team.

In addition to this, at just 23 years old, I was selected amongst local top interior design firms for an E! Channel segment to redesign a home for Macklemore’s mother-in-law.

What profession does your alter ego have?

My alter ego would have to be either a professional event planner as I love to host and plan events, or somewhere in the realm of law.

The project you will never forget.

I will always be so grateful to one of my first-ever clients. When I was just starting out ten years ago, she completely trusted me with her home and allowed me to spread my design wings. I will never forget her as a huge part of my success. Working with her was a staple steppingstone in my career.

Your favorite business tool or resource.

Pinterest! We’ve nicknamed it “the rabbit hole” at Sire Design—this is where we compile images to show clients’ inspirations and concepts that will define a project. Concept development and storytelling are the bases for the aesthetics of every project.

The most timeless design.

Anything Vincent Van Duysen touches.

The biggest design faux pas.

Following fads or trends.

Your design motto.

Less is more.

Our publisher KOKET makes statement décor, if you were to design a room around one KOKET piece, which would it be, and why?

The Spellbound Cabinet. I typically like to incorporate light, earthy tones into my work using accents. If not used carefully, certain colors can give off an aged aesthetic, often making a space feel too dark or small, so it is important to use them in subtle ways. For example, accent furniture with any brown as a base-tone are great ways to use a darker color without making spaces feel compact or old.

Love happens when…

Follow your dreams, work hard, and remember the only person who you really owe anything to is yourself. Trust me, it will all be worth it in the end.
