Each April, the city of Milan is flooded with design! We can’t wait to be inspired during Milan Design Week 2023, where our mother brand KOKET and so many of our favorite furniture and lighting designers and interior design brands will showcase their latest and greatest.

The 2023 edition offers more than 170,300 m2 of exhibition space and 1,962 exhibitors. Apart from the Salone del Mobile.Milano exhibition spaces, Milan’s best design neighborhoods offer so many wonderful showroom exhibitions you cannot miss! This is the time when the city of Milan is made even more perfect for design lovers!

An outstanding showcase for quality, innovation, and creativity in the furnishing sector and an unmissable event not just for professionals within the sector, attracted by the huge range of goods on offer and the packed program of appointments and projects.

Read on to discover all the things we are so excited to see during Milan Design Week, with festivities across the City beginning as early as Friday, April 14th, 2023, and running through Salone del Mobile.Milano from Tuesday the 18th through Sunday the 23rd!

SALONE DEL MOBILE.MILANO 2023

On its 61st Edition, the Salone del Mobile.Milano fair comprises of seven different exhibitions spread over the various fairgrounds at Fiera Milano Rho. The event’s five unique exhibitions include Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Workplace 3.0, S.Project, and Euroluce. We are so excited to see what fair president Maria Porro has masterminded up with fabulous team for this year’s event!

Inside the 2023 Exhibitions

The main focus of the upcoming Salone del Mobile.Milano edition will be the quality of the proposals and of the content, the user experience, the cultural value, and the professional enrichment of the event. Read on as we explore some of our favorite brands across the fair. And give a special shout-out to SaloneSatellite, a section dedicated to young, emerging designers. This year, it features 550 designers and graduates-to-be, and 27 international design schools. A must on your browsing list. As is Euroluce, the biennial international lighting exhibition taking place during the 2023 edition.

With thousands of products, Salone Internazionale del Mobile and the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition offer three core themes: “Classic”, “Design,” and “xLux”. A range of goods that combines quality and technology, shaped by the creativity of leading design companies, who each year share their innovative products and home furnishing solutions.

Moreover, Workspace 3.0 is a think tank devoted to design and technology in workspace planning. S. Project makes its debut with its space focused on design products and decorative and technical interior design solutions. The space includes three exhibitions and 1,091 exhibitors.

For the 2023 edition of their Salone exhibition, KOKET is celebrating authenticity! Their own bold flavor for sure, but also that of their special partners’ Lladró porcelain and Jim Thompson fabrics and wallcoverings, and of all the fabulous interior designers they work with!

From passionate, empowering designs to the most exquisite materials and beautiful hand craftsmanship, KOKET’s individuality radiates. A look they will be proudly showcasing this April in Milan.

Expect to find several creations that carry the legacy of centuries of craftsmanship. Visionnaire | PAV 5, L11-M06

Presenting its new designs alongside their classics, Italian luxury brand Visionnaire explores the Japanese word – yūgen – that expresses a deep, mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe at Salone.

As part of Furisalone, Visionnaire and Studiopepe present L’impero dei sensi a capsule collection of three pieces designed by the Italian based design studio for the brand. The immersive installation, set in the Wunderkammer of the Visionnaire Design Gallery – “focuses on the senses as tools of knowledge of the world.”

Phillip Plein Home Collection @ Eichholtz | PAV 1 C09

German fashion designer Phillip Plein’s Home Collection for dutch luxury furniture brand Eichholtz is self-proclaimed as “Not your parents’ furniture” and the look is to love! Realized with premium materials, rich details, strong iconicity and colors, more is definitely more with Plein.

Vista Alegre

Vista Alegre has been around since 1824. This Portuguese luxury ceramics brand has made a name for itself from its humble beginnings. From their small founder town in northern Portugal, Vista Alegre has reached worldwide with multiple collections and partnerships, from Christian Lacroix to Claudia Schiffer. And is available in the US through our Shop My Object of Desire.

EUROLUCE 2023

Finally, there is Euroluce 2023, the International Biennial Lighting Exhibition, which has run every two years since 1976! And it is the most avant-garde trade fair in the field of eco-sustainability and energy saving in both the decorative and the lighting technology sectors.

This year’s edition will count 321 exhibitors, 45% from abroad, and feature a new layout style named The City of Lights. Designed in collaboration with the Milanese architecture firm Lombardini22, the studio took its inspiration from the spatiality of Italian urban centers. Euroluce 2023 will present itself as the new city of lights, boasting an irregular, fluid, and free circular route. Rather than being stand-centric, the layout will be human-centric and visitor experience based.

Inside Euroluce many special exhibitions will be on display, including “Dawns. The Light of Tomorrow”, curated by Matteo Pirola and set up by From Outer Space. The theme: “Objects that contemporary designers are exploring and the production of items inspired by luminous events, orbiting spheres, dazzling eclipses, and colored auroras.”

We can’t wait to see everything in Euroluce, but we will definitely be looking out for our favorites from the last edition in 2019 and hoping for exciting newcomers too!

LASVIT x David Rockwell

Czech-based lighting brand LASVIT partnered with top NYC designer David Rockwell of the renowned design firm Rockwell Group to create Constellation. The design will debut at Euroluce alongside LASVIT’s stunning collection of lighting. A stop we look forward to!

FUORISALONE & around the city during MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2023

Fuorisalone is the set of events distributed in different areas of Milan during Salone Internazionale del Mobile. Every year in April, Salone and Fuorisalone define Milan Design Week! The theme of this year’s edition is “Laboratorio Futuro”. A reflection on how we imagine our future in relation to the times in which we live now.

Fuorisalone invites everyone to visit the various design districts to find the latest trend and designers of the moment. Read on to find what you can find there!

RO GALLERY

The number one art gallery in Milan and an absolute must during Milan Design Week! Weave through spaces filled with innovative, inspiring, and one-of-a-kind creations curated by Rossana Orlandi from around the world all, in one place for your experiential pleasure. This year women-owned decor and lighting brand Ochre will be exhibiting at RO, a must-see.

During this year’s festivities, the Ro Plastic Prize also returns with the finalists on display and the winner announcement. As part of the RO Guiltless Plastic project, over the years, the event has seen more than 1800 participants, with an average age of 35, from 60 different countries covering all five continents. The award consists of three categories: Collectible Art and Design, Emerging High Technology, and Inspiring Learning Projects.

5 VIE ART + DESIGN

The beating heart of Milan Old Town becomes a new cultural and art district characterized by design and innovation. 5VIE arte + design reconfirms its role as a widespread design museum featuring well-consolidated editorial projects consisting of three exhibitions and a site-specific installation, where particular attention is given to the territory and on natural resources.

Brera Design District is the most famous design district in Milan. During Milan Design Week 2023, it will feature local artists and other partnerships and projects to its streets for your perusal! Moreover, this district counts 110 showrooms, with 296 stores and designers.

Fornasetti

The iconic Italian brand Fornasetti shows its atelier in Via Senato in the Brera district, welcoming everyone to see their unique pieces. Its focus on home accessories is easily identified through the imagination behind them. A new design district is born at Fuorisalone 2023: the Porta Venezia Design District, the Other District.

MC+

Art director Mattia Biagi and designer Cardenio Petrucci will be debuting their new project MC+ at Milan Design Week 2023. The brand vision gives birth to limited edition products, mainly focused on living, in addition to a bathroom furniture proposal. MC+ brand positioning is across ‘art and design’ which, by merging craftsmanship, turns furniture into marble sculpture for the living area, giving birth to a collection its ideators define as a ‘functional art’ project.

In Monte Napoleone District, we suggest the new partnership between HOMMÉS Studio & TAPIS Studio called “Neocosmos”. This work follows the strict theme behind Fuorisalone, and it’s a cosmic exhibition and a design manifesto. One that explores the future of human living spaces using oniric scenarios to create a relationship between memory, place, and passion. It challenges traditional notions of what a home should be and explores the possibilities of what it could become.

ALCOVA 2023 @ EX MACELLO DI PORTA VITTORIA

Alcova 2023 will unveil the never before seen spaces of the new Ex-Macello di Porta Vittoria. Hosting over 70 projects, the Alcova 2023 exhibition explores different and complementary directions in contemporary design practice, from research into innovative and sustainable materials to contemporary craft and sensory design. An itinerant platform for freethinking design, Alcova 2023 will run April 17-23 @ the abandoned slaughterhouse Ex Macello.
