What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness for me is being surrounded by nature and in the company of loved ones, including my furry friends. Throw in some good food and wine, and I’m in heaven!
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I think my greatest achievement was starting my own company. It was intimidating to me, but I got out of my comfort zone and built it, and now have the most incredible team of talented women who I love and adore and who inspire me every day.
What profession does your alter ego have?
Oh my alter ego has lots of careers! A veterinarian, farmer, artist, could I be all three? I have a huge love for animals and really love the combination of science, nature, and art. As much as I love interior design I find being outdoors and in the company of animals and nature is deeply inspiring and soul soothing.
The project you will never forget.
Roy Estate in Napa. It was such an honor to work on such an incredible project in a beautiful location and with such a talented team of architects and builders (Taylor Lombardo and Grassi Associates). The clients themselves were such an amazing and inspiring couple. I really enjoyed getting to know them and building the design inspiration for them.
Your favorite business tool or resource.
A pencil and paper. Pinterest.
The most timeless design.
The Pantheon.
The biggest design faux pas.
Ruffles. I see they are making a comeback, and I just want to cringe!
Your design motto.
Take that chance. Get out of your comfort zone just enough to let something special happen.
Our publisher, KOKET, makes statement décor. If you were to design a room around one of their pieces, which would it be, and why?
I love the Paris oval dining table. It is a beautiful cultural piece with clean lines that could lend itself to so many applications. Its materiality of beautiful Marble in combination with wood details at the base is stunning, and depending on the marble you choose, it could be stellar in a high-rise ultra-modern penthouse or equally at home in a more earthy Napa wine-tasting cave.
Love Happens when…
You open yourself up, listen, absorb what’s around you, be receptive, and then give of yourself in whatever you do.
