A veil of darkness creeping across an image, a stunning sunset, a fabric with a gradual fade from light to dark – by now anyone paying attention to anything in beauty, fashion, graphic design or home decor knows about ombre, but just in case you have been living under a rock for the past 50+ years! Ombré (literally meaning “shaded” in French) is the gradual blending of one color hue to another, generally moving from light to dark, or having colors or tones that shade into each other.

The concept of ombre has of course existed pretty much forever, but the ombre color trend first came to the forefront with textiles in the tie dye era of the 60’s. Then during the early 21-st century it began heavily trending in fashion, home decor and hair color and the love for the style has carried on ever since. Today the look continues to appear in fashion and home decor pretty consistently and we always love a glamorous ombre dress, or ombre wallpaper or fabric fading from tone to tone in a room filled with luxury furniture. So here are a few favorites for your viewing pleasure!
