A KOKET Encounter at the Charming Paris Eiffel Tower Hotel La Comtesse
The Serendipitous Story of How Love Happens and KOKET Founder & CEO Janet Morais Discovered One of the Best Hotels in Paris!
It was a beautiful crisp January day in Paris. In her favorite city, seeking inspiration and a quiet place to write, Janet Morais came across La Comtesse Café. She settled in at a table with a view of the Eiffel Tower, a view which Janet holds near and dear to her heart and one is always sure to inspire her (and most for that matter!). After ordering an espresso she pulled out a sheet of KOKET letterhead and her favorite pen and began to write.
Moments later a well-dressed man stopped at her table. In the most sincere address, he told Janet how intellectual and beautiful she looked sitting there writing. As he spoke he glanced down at her paper. Seeing the KOKET logo across the top of the page he went on to ask if she liked KOKET and began telling her what a huge fan he was of their stunning furniture. Blushing from his kind words of admiration, Janet told the man who she was. The man grinned with a smile ear to ear and introduced himself, Daniel Judkiewicz, director of Hotel La Comtesse, the café’s home.
At once the two dove into conversation. Daniel sharing all that he loves above KOKET and Janet sharing her new-found love for the Paris Eiffel Tower Hotel La Comtesse!
When Janet told me this story of her serendipitous encounter and to look up the hotel to see its fabulous interior design, I too immediately fell in love and knew I had to share this story and place! Although January feels simultaneously like eons and moments ago, I am only now finally getting a chance to write this piece and introduce you to this marvelous hotel. If you are heading to Paris for any of the upcoming Paris Fashion Week 2018 events, Paris Men’s (June 19-24) or Paris Haute Couture (July 1-5), or for any other reason for that matter, we highly recommend you book a room at Hotel La Comtesse!
Located in the heart of the prestigious 7th arrondissement, just steps from the Eiffel Tower, the Champs de Mars, the Dôme des Invalides, the Rodin museum, the Orsay museum and the shops on rue Cler, this charming boutique hotel is an ideal location for whatever brings you to Paris. Thanks to the buildings V-shape each of the hotels 40 beautifully appointed rooms offer a unique view of the Eiffel Tower, from the front to the side.
Inspired by 18th-century literary salons and the women who hosted them with a contemporary twist, La Comtesse’s interior is sure to inspire and delight you! The hotel describes the concept behind their alluring design as follows:
“During the 18th century, beautiful and elegant duchesses, marchionesses and countesses hosted salons. These curious, cultivated and avant-garde women helped produce, publish and introduce the greatest writers, thinkers, composers, and painters of their time, they cultivated the art of conversation and helped give birth to the most revolutionary ideas – they shaped Paris.
The very special Hotel de la Comtesse is inspired by the life of these women and by the soul of a district forged by a deep taste for Art and Literature.
As in the 18th century, you will be able to enjoy a good conversation and a good book in the Café, a neo-boudoir inspired by literary salons with a beautiful library and a unique view over the Eiffel Tower.”
Can you believe the aligning of time, place and taste when Janet came across this café?!!
The blend of traditional and contemporary design in the interior is cozy and stylish, just the kind of hotel we love!
If you find your way to the Paris Eiffel Tower Hotel La Comtesse for a stay, or even just to their Café, be sure to try their hot chocolate. Noted as the best in Paris, it is served in a pot as it was traditionally done during the 18th century during which time chocolate was a precious dish reserved for elites who believed it had medicinal and aphrodisiac virtues!
