My short stop to Carnival in Venice, Italy
My trip to Europe would not have been the same if i had not made a short stop in Italy to attend one of the best Carnivals in the World: The Carnival of Venice. Who comes to spend Carnival in the romantic Italian city has the impression of returning to the past, when the nobility and adventurers paraded with formal and fancy Carnival costumes. The theme for this year was “Live in Color”.

I had the opportunity to arrive in time to watch “The Flight of the Angel”, the first Carnival festival, in which an actress dressed in white, with about 20 years, challenged the role of jumping an extraordinary way down from the top of St. Mark’s Basilica for a pallet mounted in the center of the square, in a cabaret outfit inspired by “Moulin Rouge” in Paris. I kept my mouth open! It was amazing to see thousands of masked people applauding the show. Venice is known for promoting the most important Carnival festival of Europe, maintaining the tradition and refinement, characterized by decorating the streets, cuisine, dances, orchestras, and theaters. This destination is invaded by all sorts of masks, faces white, silk garments and black three-cornered hat.

By mid-afternoon I made a stop in the charming cafeteria Piazza San Marco. While I was enjoying a delicious hot chocolate with an irresistible sweet pastel, I was watching through the esplanade windows the performing arts across the street. The old dances charmed me! I was fascinated with the group dances, minuets, quadrilles and cotillions. At the magnificent hotel that I was staying – Danieli, with a baroque architectural style, the masters teach the steps to the guests, during and after the gala dinner.

Venice Carnival - Masked group
In the Pisani Moretta Palace, with a stunning view of the Grand Canal, the everyone was delighted with the musical and theatrical performances during the cocktail and dinner until dawn. At any time of day, you can escape the revelry and experience a lovely and tranquil boat ride in the renowned channels. I had never experienced so many feelings and experiences in a so short stop as this in Venice. Among the thousands of foreign tourists present, I felt as I’m a real Italian. For me, the Venice Carnival is something historic and wonderful, a romantic tradition that everyone should attend.
