Love happened on\u00a0May 2 2015, when\u00a0the news\u00a0that the world had been waiting for was finally announced – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were the proud parents of a baby girl,\u00a0Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.<\/strong>

The Duke and\u00a0Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed their second child, a baby girl. Like her older brother Prince George, the new member of the royal family was born at The Lindo Wing of\u00a0St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. Kensington Palace announced that the baby was “safely delivered” at 8.34am, weighing 8lbs 3oz.

As Princess Charlotte of Cambridge (as she will be known) woke to her first day, she was met by her elder sibling, brother Prince George of Cambridge, who was introduced to his little sister within hours of her arrival.

Prince William, who was present at the birth, left the hospital to huge cheers from the crowd at\u00a04\u00a0pm.\u00a0He\u00a0stopped to tell onlookers that he and his wife\u00a0are “very happy” following the arrival of their daughter, before driving himself to Kensington Palace and returning with the couple’s 21-month-old son, who waved to the crowds from the Lindo Wing steps.\u00a0 After visiting his mother, the Prince was then taken back to Kensington Palace.

Charlotte and George’s proud mum the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, took the photos herself; echoing the break from tradition that she and William opted for in August 2013 when they chose Michael Middleton\u00a0to capture the first official pictures of Prince George rather than a professional photographer.
