French designer Marie Da\u00e2ge embodies the quintessential French art de vivre<\/em>. Seamlessly blending refined tradition with contemporary elegance, her delicate porcelain creations capture the spirit of beauty, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the joys of everyday life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marie Da\u00e2ge, The Woman<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since 1990, artisan and founder Marie Da\u00e2ge<\/a> has quietly produced and hand-painted porcelain tableware. Over the last 35 years, Marie has gone from painting alone in her apartment to running the only entirely hand-painted porcelain company in the market today. Marie is almost single-handedly preserving the art and savoir-faire of bespoke hand-painted Limoges porcelain, one of the most prestigious and high-quality types of porcelain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Austria and relocating to the French West Indies, she found her way to the \u00c9cole du Louvre in Paris. According to Marie, however, hand-painting porcelain was not part of her plan. The improvisation came after she took a few lessons with friends, and it was then that she discovered one of the great loves of her life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marie spent the first 20 years of her business life in the studio space of her apartment in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. With continuous brand growth, she decided to expand her team. She began bringing in local French artists to assist in the painting process\u2014elevating her already tasteful designs to new heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Designs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Today, Marie’s collections\u2014more than 90 of them\u2014include 69 colors and 120 porcelain designs. The hand-polished 24-karat matte gold accents that grace the porcelain edges serve as a reminder to users of the luxurious, thoughtful design and embody the French art de vivre. Her entirely gold and black design, a rare and one-of-a-kind set, was designed for and gifted to Peter Marino, a New York-based architect well known for his work for luxury brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Her recent collection, Pierre de Paris<\/em>, is an homage to the city’s exposed limestone walls, capturing the timeless hues of Parisian architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marie’s design philosophy stems from preserving French history, with many of her iconic collections inspired by clothing and art that represent the iconic designs of France. She is no stranger to balancing color, pattern, and design to create the most tasteful and original styles for each of her tableware collections. Each design embodies a harmony of modern sensibilities and genuine French heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, she partnered with New York designer Jonathan Hansen<\/a> to unveil the Ciels Bleus<\/em> collection. This series drew inspiration from the ethereal frescoes of Baroque-style architecture, capturing delicate blue-sky cloudscapes on Bohemian glass canvases. Such collaborations emphasize Marie\u2019s commitment to innovation while staying true to her artisanal roots. Similarly, she created true innovation in her collaboration with Kate Sapienza for her F\u00eate des Lys de la Vall\u00e9e<\/em> Collection. Named after the \u201cLily of the Valley Festival\u201d, a holiday celebrated on May 1st in France, when lilies are gifted to loved ones, the porcelain captures the vibrancy of spring, delicately adorned with the beloved bloom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an era dominated by mass production, Marie Da\u00e2ge champions the ethos of \u201cslow luxury.\u201d She refuses to discontinue collections, ensuring that clients can continually enhance and expand their tableware sets without thoughts of obsolescence. This sustainable approach honors the timeless nature of true luxury, fostering a deeper connection between the artisan and the admirer.
