When it comes to women empowerment, Victoria Beckham ranks high on our list of inspiring success stories. The pop-star-turned-fashion designer is a fierce businesswoman\u2014one who, like Love Happens Mag and our publisher KOKET<\/a>, holds Girl Power close to her heart! The British beauty\u2019s sense of style, drive, and clever business savvy has led to a long list of accomplishments, including mom of four, fashion designer, model, singer, and author.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spice Power<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 1994, Victoria (then) Adams began her career with the best-selling female group of all time. The Spice Girls’ first song, “Wannabe,” went to the #1 spot immediately after its release. The group mainstreamed feminism with a fun twist,\u00a0popularizing it as Girl Power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2000, the Spice Girls dispersed and moved on to individual solo careers. And while they cease to exist as a “group,” the Girl Power they stood for still lives on. In 2016, Global Goals created a short film using “Wannabe”<\/a> to promote women’s empowerment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victoria spoke out on social media in support of the campaign, encouraging young people to share their goals by using the film’s hashtag #WhatIReallyReallyWant. She was also quoted saying, “I think the film is a wonderful idea. How fabulous it is that after 20 years, the legacy of the Spice Girls\u2014Girl Power\u2014is being used to encourage and empower a whole new generation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victoria’s solo music career included a number of popular songs but no major hits. Eventually, whether due to her growing family with football star David Beckham or her passion for fashion, she slowly phased out of the music industry and turned her focus to other endeavors. Beginning her path in acting, modeling, writing, and fashion turned out to be the best decision she could have ever made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Empowering Through Fashion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since her initial rise to fame as Posh Spice in the late 1990s, Victoria Beckham has reinvented herself, proving her critics wrong by making herself the face of women empowerment and building an internationally renowned\u00a0fashion brand. “For a long time there, I was a bit of a laughingstock,” she said in an interview with Business of Fashion<\/em><\/a>. “And while everybody was busy laughing, what was I doing? I was laying the foundation to what I have in place now.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her experience in the fashion world began long before her brand’s launch, however. In 2000, she walked the runway for Maria Grachvogel at London Fashion Week. In 2003, she acted as the British ambassador for Dolce and Gabbana and the face of Rocawear. And why not add a best-selling author to the list? Her second book, That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between<\/a><\/em>, was a best seller in 2006. Victoria has also graced countless magazine covers during her career, including Elle<\/em>, W<\/em>, and numerous editions of Vogue<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of these experiences led to the launch of her eponymous label<\/a> in 2008. Known initially for its dresses, the range has expanded into separates, luxury handbags, denim, and fragrances. Perhaps Victoria’s favorite, though, are her eyewear lines. “I’m quite obsessed with sunglasses. I collect vintage Guccis and Carreras \u2013 they can make virtually any outfit look cool.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2011, the designer won Designer Brand of the Year at the\u00a0British Fashion Awards<\/em>. She has packed a lot into her forty-plus years, with a primary goal driving her. While speaking about her empire in an interview with\u00a0Elle Singapore<\/em>, Victoria said, “I want to make a woman feel her best. I want to empower women. I feel that\u00a0I\u2019ve been talking about empowering women for so many years and never was there a time when that was more relevant with what\u2019s going on in the world, for me and my customer.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While launching her Spring\/Summer 2017 collection, Victoria also launched VB x Target, a limited collection of apparel and accessories for women of all ages, including toddlers and babies. “I\u2019ve wanted to work with a retailer that could enable me to reach out to women all around America no matter what their budget,” Beckham explained. “I was really excited because I am often in Target stores with the kids.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The female entrepreneur is still quite active in the fashion world today. In 2018, she announced her collaboration with Reebok to launch a line of sleek but technical workout wear. In 2019, the founder launched her beauty brand, Victoria Beckham Beauty. The brand parades its “clean” approach with sustainably minded packaging. The line hosts a range of products, from glimmering shadows to everyday cleansers. In 2022, she showcased her first collection at Paris Fashion Week, where she has since become a beloved designer at the biannual event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
