Though many people remember her as the girl who was targeted by the Taliban, she had a long history of activism before the attack \u2014 when she was as young as 12.<\/span><br><a href=\"http:\/\/bykoket.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"710\" height=\"473\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22569\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bykoket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/holding-malala-yousafzai-nobel-peace-prize.jpg\" alt=\"Women Empowerment - Malala Yousafzai - Empowering Women - Women in Support of Women - Gender equality - Equal access to education - girl power - feminism - powerful women - women power\"><\/a><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, her series of BBC diaries, which she wrote under a pseudonym to protect herself, detailed her life under Taliban rule in Swat, Pakistan in 2009. According to the New Yorker, Malala <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/news\/news-desk\/the-girl-who-wanted-to-go-to-school\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hand-wrote the blog posts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which described her academic successes as well as concurrent Taliban actions that her family and community were enduring.<\/span><br><a href=\"http:\/\/bykoket.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"710\" height=\"710\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22566\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bykoket.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/0ac1e2db72901ff267c7db557e374e7e.jpg\" alt=\"Women Empowerment - Malala Yousafzai - Empowering Women - Women in Support of Women - Gender equality - Equal access to education - girl power - feminism - powerful women - women power - i am stronger than fear\"><\/a><br><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Her passion for <em><strong>educational equity<\/strong><\/em> began with her father, who gave her lessons in the night once the Taliban had banned girls going to school and destroyed many of the schools in Swat, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/entertainment-arts-34637751\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">according to BBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
