Cloud9 Design Founder Sam Golchha Brings Beauty and Good to the World<\/strong><\/h2>\n

When you meet an amazingly inspiring woman and you have a platform to share her story, you do! I had the pleasure of asking Sam Golchha, the founder of Cloud9 Design, a few questions about her\u00a0stunning home and fashion accessories business and the loving support she and her family provide for abandoned children in India. Her story and love for humanity are truly empowering!
\n\"Cloud9<\/a><\/p>\n

Lh:<\/em> Tell me about Cloud9?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sam:<\/strong> Cloud9<\/a> was initiated by my love for handmade textiles. I had worked in the New York commercial textile industry for 12 years after graduating from FIT but had trained extensively in India<\/a> before that. I was studying dyes, handlooms, hand embroidery in India and had traveled to various parts of the country observing and learning age-old techniques of weaving, print, and color. The commercial textile world taught me that I could combine the ornate crafts and designs of India and the rest of the world with new design and trends<\/a> and thus Cloud9 was formed almost 9 years ago.
\n\"Cloud9<\/a><\/p>\n

Lh:<\/em> How did you get into the home accessories business?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sam:<\/strong> My parents own textile mills so I kind of grew up in the middle of it all. Scissors, fabrics, measuring tapes, hot glue, sewing machines were my toys since I was old enough to understand toys. The love for making and selling home accessories seemed to come naturally.
\n\"Cloud9<\/a><\/p>\n

Lh:<\/em> Where do you get your design inspiration?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sam:<\/strong> We travel all over the world. I love Chinese textiles and techniques, Morocco, Africa, India and Europe. Deriving inspiration from Fine Art, museums, and ancient textiles.

Lh:<\/em> I have heard that your family gives back to the community you are originally from in India. Can you tell me more about this?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sam:<\/strong> My family and I support shelter homes for abandoned children. We also feed over 800 street children and mothers who cannot even save for one good meal. A self-sustained kitchen run by the mothers of the slums feeds the children a healthy and hearty meal every day. We also organize special events and believe in educating the youth of India. Currently, on the verge of becoming the most populous country in the world, hunger is the most basic problem yet need. Through our small philanthropic help, we are trying to erase the hunger.
\n\"Orphanages<\/a>
\nMost of the girls in the shelters we support were abandoned in the streets. We provide them with clothing, a safe place to live and most importantly love! I love to teach them art and drawing as that was my relief and safe place when I was growing up.<\/p>\n

\nLh:<\/em> As an entrepreneur and successful woman in the luxury home decor industry, what 3 things do you feel have been key to your success?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Sam:<\/strong> The support of my family, my extensive textile background, and my travels.
