When the Waldorf Astoria opened on Park Avenue in 1931, it was the largest and tallest hotel in the world. Today it remains one of New York City\u2019s most prominent landmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n

A New Future: Restoration & The Towers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The property is in the midst of an unprecedented restoration, undertaken with care by developer Dajia Insurance Group and renowned architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with great attention given to the original Art Deco design<\/a>. Designer Pierre-Yves Rochon is spearheading the luxurious hotel interiors. While renowned designer Jean-Louis Deniot<\/a> is in charge of the residential interiors. This talented team has invested years of work to understand the building\u2019s history and maintain its heritage for future generations while bringing it into a new age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full-block property, which will include 375 condominium residences atop the 375-key Waldorf Astoria New York hotel, will welcome residents and guests in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n

Jean-Louis Deniot is a visionary behind some of the world’s most opulent private homes. And now The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria! Read on to explore The Towers and hear what Jean-Louis replied when we asked him about this amazing project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What went through your mind when you learned you had secured the bid for the interiors of The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria New York?<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“When you think of New York, one of the first places that springs to mind is the Waldorf Astoria, is that it is one of the biggest symbols of New York. Like King Kong \u2013 even though that was on the Empire State Building \u2013 I feel as though it should have been at the Waldorf. Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s was at the Waldorf, all the most beautiful fun parties have been at the Waldorf!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is such an iconic building that as a Frenchman being able to produce the ideal product that complements the existing history of the building is really something incredible. I used the history of the Waldorf Astoria, studying all its symbols, events, histories, stories, the amazing people that stayed at the Waldorf, the personalities, the list goes on; I wanted to use this wealth of inspiration to emphasize this incredible way of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For over 20 years now I have been living in New York, based in Paris, but always in and out of this marvelous, energetic city. For me, getting the Waldorf Astoria was like winning the biggest trophy in all of New York. With this in mind, there is a lot of responsibility that comes with this trophy. It isn\u2019t just about getting the prize, it\u2019s about having the utmost respect for this trophy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was your vision for the space?<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“When I imagined the life inside the Waldorf Astoria, I wanted each owner to have a perfect canvas to work with, I wanted the history of the Waldorf to continue, whilst enabling new histories to evolve and be created within its walls.<\/p>\n\n\n

“I never wanted to use any pastiche of the Art Deco era, I didn\u2019t want a copy; I designed specific custom-made architectural profiles and silhouettes, moldings, proportions that remind us, that tease, play, and pay homage to Art Deco, but never mimic this style. The outcome is therefore something that fuses classical with contemporary.<\/p>\n\n\n

“Every individual has been accommodated for, they can be themselves no matter what mood they are in. None of the art deco vocabulary was used within the amenities, it is my translation, my design, reminiscent of art deco yet refraining from pastiche, it is not an imitation of history, this is respect for history, brand new design that fits the past, present as well as the future in order to become timeless.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the Residences at The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From gracious studios to opulent four bedrooms, magnificent penthouses, and several marquee residences with expansive private outdoor spaces, The Towers offers a variety of styles ready to become unique homes. <\/p>\n\n\n

Each interior features high ceilings, sound-attenuating windows, herringbone floors, and state of the art Gaggenau appliances. <\/p>\n\n\n

In addition, Jean-Louis carefully considered each detail, designing his own custom creations for The Towers that include: solid custom-paneled interior doors with bespoke antique bronze hardware, custom cabinets manufactured by Molteni&C in Italy, vanities with polished marble countertops, custom forged polished nickel fixtures, and tile mosaics featuring a Waldorf Astoria-inspired pattern, done in a modern style with a nod to French Art Deco, further complimenting the building\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Residential Experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

While unified with the hotel in many ways, The Towers also offers a very separate residential environment. Starting with a dramatic porte coch\u00e8re, followed by two fully-staffed discrete residential entry lobbies.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Amenities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Although feeling a sense of separation from the hotel is paramount, access to the hotel\u2019s numerous food and beverage venues and world-class spa is essential as well. Thus, through a private access entrance residents can enter the hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the hotel amenities residents will have exclusive access to over 50,000 square feet of private residential amenities. Ranging from health and wellness to entertaining and business spaces, also all brilliantly designed by Jean-Louis Deniot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Life at The Towers was designed to offer the height of luxury, service and leisure and achieve a lifestyle at the apex of wellness,” says Jean-Louis. “I think what\u2019s fantastic is that you have your own private world in the building with all the enjoyments, distractions, and entertainments. If you have to be enclosed somewhere, be in the most beautiful building on earth!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stunning 25-meter Starlight Pool will overlook Park Avenue in a dramatic double height-space, illuminated by a restored skylight that allows the original intent of the architects to be observed again for the first time in 70 years. <\/p>\n\n\n

The verdant Winter Garden and the Starlight Lounge, connected to the Starlight Terrace soar above Park Avenue. Just two of the four private bars to residents, a nod to the famous entertaining spaces at the original Waldorf. <\/p>\n\n\n

A state-of-the-art fitness center with training studios and a cardio gallery overlooks the pool. And there are opulent private spas for men and women, each featuring a changing room and lounge. These include the Grand Salon, a private dining room, wine tasting room, billiard\u2019s room, and game room.<\/p>\n\n\n
