ModaLisboa’s Fall 2021 Lisbon Fashion Week celebrated the organization’s 30th anniversary and the motto of this edition was perfectly fitting with, “And Now What?”! The main objective was the reflection between the present and the future of fashion during the event which took place from October 7 -10 and once again invaded Portugal’s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set in Lisbon’s Estufa Fria, a greenhouse with three distinct gardens, 34 fashion designers attended the 57th edition of Lisbon Fashion Week, which alternated between physical and digital formats. In addition, the show hosted many workshops, presentations, conversations, and always with the central question “And Now What?”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be noted that there was also a competition for young designers entitled “Sangue Novo”, which brought together 10 candidates and had 5 finalists. Carolina Costa<\/a> was the big winner of the Moche Prize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Main Designers and Trends at ModaLisboa 2021 Lisbon Fashion Week<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

B\u00e9hen<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The SS22 collection intends to reflect an artistic identity in a dictatorship, making a great recognition of the resistance of women in a small society of human order. Thus, designer Joana Duarte bets on traditional embroideries, especially from Madeira, handmade in most of her creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cravo Studios<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The founding designers of this fashion brand define this collection in three words: love, heritage, and revolution. The mission of this collection is to pay tribute to all those who fought for freedom in Portugal. Therefore, there is a great contribution to keep the traditions alive and at the same time give another vision to the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kolovrat<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Designer Lidija Kolovrat emphasizes new moments in fashion through the deconstruction of urban culture. To this end, various leftover fabrics that enhance clothing were used. Further, the tight and relaxed shapes based on geometric lines are its main brand image. Lidija says that her creations convey what she feels in her heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carolina Machado<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The designer knows that people’s wardrobes have changed, so the approach to creating the pieces also had to change. In the collection presented at ModaLisboa, sand tones with small touches of color, namely oranges and fuchsia. Men’s tailoring, ruffles, and ribs are among her creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ice cream tones, black and white are the most used colors. Then come the pleats, the wrinkled cuts with revealing details, a beautiful ode to seduction and femininity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saskia Lenaerts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This collection is a fusion of cultures, with a very masculine twist. The reflection that the designer wanted to convey through her pieces was rationing, that is, reuse, redesign, and redefinition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Related to the end of an era, this collection is a happy embrace of normality. The color palette used is based on pastel tones. Pink, lilac, fuchsia, sky blue, and orange are the most prominent shades. Further, the cuts of the pieces are light, giving space to the body’s movement. The materials in this collection are denim, silks, and satins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carlos Gil<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Respect and equality are the motto of this collection and the designer’s response to what life is all about. The models of the parade were accompanied by symbolic words such as “unity” and “respect”, messages that are crucial for life in society. The collection called “Life” was inspired by the balance of nature. Therefore, the patterns refer to the land and the sea. The junction of cultures was also present in these creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuno Gama<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For ModaLisboa 2021, Nuno Gama wanted to make a big call to conscience. An example of this is the model who parades with a burka, pointing the finger. Another great inspiration from this designer was the Alentejo plain, which brings peace of mind. There was an environmental conscience when materials were reused, seen in the natural fibers, and certified materials used. Likewise, there was a great promotion of the national product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technology and digital were the great inspiration for the collection presented at ModaLisboa 2021. The thermal materials present in the pieces change color, there are many pixel prints. That is, he played with the graphics to convey digitization. The key pieces have organic cotton in their constitution and have raw finishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The designer says that the collection is a journey between the city and the countryside. All inspired by the 50s, it has linen and cotton in its composition. The plaid pattern with colors like purple and yellow made the difference. The fact that it is relaxed and at the same time sophisticated and feminine brings an innovative touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Duarte<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ana Duarte is not shy about explaining that her dog, Tadao, was her great inspiration. The entire collection was inspired by the fight against climate change, focusing on pollution, deforestation, and excessive water consumption. The pieces are mostly unisex, sustainable and with a cool style, thanks to the play with comics, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aleksandar Protic<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Just look at the collection to see that the salmon, champagne, pink, and brown tones are in evidence. As far as materials are concerned for this Lisbon Fashion Week 2021 collection, these are linen, silks, and cotton. Overall, desire, skin, body, and heat are the words that define creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
