A day issued in 1993 by The United Nations Assembly to help end violence against women worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, the UN commemorates 2022 with the theme UNiTE! Activism to End Violence against Women &amp; Girls. November 25th marks the launch of the UNiTE campaign\u2014an initiative of 16 days of activism concluding on International Human Rights Day on December 10th. This campaign is all about calling for global action, and Lh is here to join the fight through awareness!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/@nataliehua_?utm_source=unsplash&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_content=creditCopyText\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"710\" height=\"475\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lovehappensmag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/natalie-hua-9oGoyCX3g_A-unsplash.jpg\" alt=\"International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women\" class=\"wp-image-76797\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lovehappensmag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/natalie-hua-9oGoyCX3g_A-unsplash.jpg 710w, https:\/\/www.lovehappensmag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/natalie-hua-9oGoyCX3g_A-unsplash-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 710px) 100vw, 710px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>(Photo by Natalie Hua)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Does Violence Against Women Look Like Today?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the cusp of evolution and democracy, we live in an era where women such as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Death_of_Mahsa_Amini\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mahsa Amini<\/a> become martyrs. Where girls like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovehappensmag.com\/blog\/2017\/11\/13\/women-empowerment-malala-yousafzai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Malala Yousafzai<\/a> become the voice of education for girls when they themselves are forced to grow up faster than any other girl their age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The countless cases of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovehappensmag.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/13\/on-the-edge-the-woman-behind-the-man\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">#MeToo<\/a> and the women who are literally dragged on the ground just for being a woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is scary to think the luck of being born in another country is our privilege to not have to endure such attacks on <em>our<\/em> liberty. Ours as the group of women we are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simone de Beauvoir said it best, \u201cone is not born, but rather becomes, a woman\u201d. The discovery of who we are and how we express that is personal for all of us. Having to fight for simply existing is a violation of humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The coercion and brutal force used through conservative ideas mark the everyday life of many women around the globe. This problem did not begin in 1993. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wrongful murder of Mahsa Amini shows the consequence of not abiding by a criminal\u2019s rule. She didn\u2019t cover her hair. A sinful act, so it seems. We, as every citizen, know right from wrong and walk together to bring freedom to people who see it being taken away from them every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bykoket.com\/guilty-pleasures\/lighting\/muse-sconce.php?utm_source=LH_Blog_article&amp;utm_medium=banner&amp;utm_campaign=Banner_Article&amp;utm_content=muse_sconce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lovehappensmag.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ext-campaign\/article\/kk-muse-sconce-750.jpg\" alt=\"no more violence against women\" width=\"500\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use this day to pay homage. Do not look the other way.
