Set on the coveted north end of Main Beach on Australia’s Gold Coast is Masthead Ocean Club<\/strong>, a beautiful modern development with ultra-luxe residences. Considered Australia’s Miami, known for world-class surfing, and a go-to vacation destination, the Gold Coast is the perfect inspiration for the latest project of Edo Mapelli Mozzi<\/strong> and his London-based Banda Design Studio<\/strong>\u2014Masthead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the words of Nicola Sherbon, Head of Design at Banda, the Australian Gold Coast<\/strong> offers “an innate natural wonder to be celebrated and captivated by”. A wonder Banda captures beautifully by creating interiors inspired by the areas stunning terrain and landscapes. And not just visually but also with personality and a feeling of the Gold Coast coming to life in a home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is something singular to Banda projects, and this is especially true at Masthead Ocean Club, where the firm is both part of the development of the property and the design team behind five Sky Homes, two penthouses, and one super penthouse. Each residence is all about lateral living, occupying a whole floor and offering breathtaking landscapes open to view by anyone lucky to set foot inside one of these design havens.<\/p>\n\n\n

Firm founder Edo Mapelli Mozzi<\/strong>, husband of Princess Beatrice, launched Banda 15 years ago. A global design practice founded on absolute quality and provenance of the materials used. The skill of the craftspeople engaged and the technical benchmark of everything that bears the Banda name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Masthead Ocean Club<\/strong> project, Banda partnered with Australian real estate expert Rory O’Brien to develop the $280 million residential development offering a 7-star resort experience. Set to open in 2024, Masthead adds Australia to the company’s list of projects underway in London, New York, Doha, and San Salvador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This architectural and design endeavor opens the company to new horizons. And most importantly shows the adaptation respected in interior design. Scroll and delight in the beauty and creativity of Masthead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Outside to In<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“The location is so unique with the varying topographies that we felt very strongly that the design needed to be relevant to the surroundings,” explains Edo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First impressions matter, and when you have such a bright blue and green landscape, very little matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonetheless, the entrance welcomes us with serene Tadelakt plastering. And an Arabescato Corchia marble portal around the door that follows the floor into the living space. A vintage side table by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, the \u201cColosseum\u201d Chest in walnut catches our eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kitchen & Dining Room<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bespoke details delight in this project! “I particularly like the infinity hob, which is recessed directly into the Kitchen <\/strong>worktop,” says Edo. “It gives a very clean, elegant, seamless look. We also chose a bullnose detail for the edge of the kitchen island and floating shelf, which softens the look ever so slightly, as does the lozenge shape of the island leg pillar.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the design’s connection to the tones of central Australia, Edo explains, “we chose to specify the beautiful kitchen island in this bold, heavily marbled, green sequoia verde marble that speaks as one with the hinterland and the sea views beyond. It really anchors and gives a relevance to the design, and we are very proud of that.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this space, there is nothing that does not belong together. A feeling created through the use of Tadelakt plaster applied to both the cabinets and walls. Similar shapes, from the tables to the shelves and countertops, flow, creating a sense of cycle we love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vintage stools, Alexandre Loge pendants, and smooth matte finishes bring the space together. By the way, you can find similar apartments via this\u00a0site<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Dining Room,<\/strong> more natural beauty radiates across statement lighting, striking natural materials, and a warmth of details for the eyes to delight in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Living Room & Study<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As soon as we walk into the Living Room<\/strong>, we are stunned by the incredible view in front of us. As well as the warm colors inside that match the sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From all the details, we mention the vintage Sergio Rodriguez armchairs and the bespoke cream mohair sofa by Banda that welcomes anyone to sit on it. And let’s not forget the iconic Egg Collective “Isla” coffee table with its Madre and Perola marble top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Emmanuelle Simon \u2018suspended bar\u2019 in the living room is a show-stopping piece of design that works so well against the stunning backdrop of the estuary and cityscape,” says Edo. “And I absolutely love how the Immants Tillers \u2018Melancholy Landscape 1\u2019 quietly commands attention without detracting from the view.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side, with the Study Room<\/strong>, there is a continuity of the view, and the warm touch of the dark walnut veneer walls, with perforated detail to top panels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Powder Room, Master Bathroom & Bedroom<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Banda’s ability to connect the interiors with the surroundings is seen again masterfully executed in the Powder Room<\/strong>. Here the color palette was inspired by the red earth of Australia, a look attained with a bespoke Travertine Rossa-clad vanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turning our attention to the Master Bathroom<\/strong>, we find more and more stunning natural materials and, oh, the views! A striking, spacious room with a bath in the window for ultimate views while bathing. The rectangular marble-clad stand-alone bath in Calacatta Verde Marble and another Banda bespoke vanity unit in marble and grey burl are both gorgeous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, but certainly not least, the Master Bedroom<\/strong>. It is a striking dual-aspect room with a bespoke Banda stepped headboard design featuring silver travertine. We continue to see Apparatus ceiling-hung pendant lights in line with the rest of the penthouse. Final striking pieces? Definitely the ‘Elie’ bedside tables from Pierre Javanovich, and the vintage Herve Van Der Straeten bench seat at the end of the bed. Its incredible golden brown tones come from its mushroom mohair upholstery. Stunning!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
