Housed in a stunning 19th-century mansion once owned by the Count of Cabral, the Farol Hotel perfectly combines historical elegance with contemporary design. Cascais, a charming former fishing village turned cosmopolitan retreat, serves as the perfect backdrop for the Farol’s unique character.

The location is nothing short of breathtaking. Situated between the rugged cliffs of the Atlantic Ocean and the serene beauty of Cascais Bay, the Farol offers a front-row seat to nature’s grandeur. From my suite, the ocean’s rhythmic melody was a soothing constant, creating an unparalleled connection to the surrounding environment.

Art lovers will find a hidden treasure within the hotel itself. The public spaces are adorned with striking artworks that echo the hotel’s creative spirit. From contemporary sculptures to vibrant paintings, every corner of the Farol celebrates artistic expression. It felt as if the hotel transformed into a living gallery.

A White Haven: The Junior Suite Experience

Upon my arrival, I was warmly welcomed with a selection of fine cheeses and a bottle of wine in my room. This was indeed a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for a truly special stay. My junior suite was nothing short of spectacular. The room was an ode to minimalist luxury, its all-white decor creating a serene and luminous atmosphere. Large windows framed the endless blue of the Atlantic, as though the ocean was an extension of the room itself.

Every detail in the suite was curated for comfort and style, from the plush bedding to the sleek furnishings. The bathroom, equipped with modern amenities, offered a spa-like experience. After a long day exploring Cascais, sinking into the junior suite’s serene ambiance felt like the ultimate indulgence.

Dining Delights: Breakfast and Beyond

Although my schedule didn’t allow me the opportunity to dine at Mix Restaurant, it remains an enticing option for my next visit. Renowned for its Mediterranean-inspired menu, Mix promises an exquisite culinary journey crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Another culinary treasure at the Farol Hotel is the Sushi Design Restaurant, offering a creative fusion of traditional Japanese flavors with a modern twist. This unique dining experience, coupled with its stunning oceanfront location, makes it a must-visit for sushi lovers.

However, I did enjoy the hotel’s breakfast, which was a feast for the senses. Served in a bright, airy space with captivating views of the Atlantic, the meal featured an impressive array of high-quality options. From freshly baked pastries to perfectly cooked eggs to a vibrant selection of fruits and cheeses, every bite was a testament to the hotel’s commitment to excellence. 

A Poolside Paradise Untouched

The Farol Hotel’s infinity pool overlooking the ocean beckoned with its crystal-clear water and stunning views. I regretfully didn’t have time to experience it during my stay, yet nonetheless, it was easy to see this space was a sanctuary for relaxation. Offering quiet reflection, guests have a chance to soak in the beauty of the Atlantic in luxurious surroundings.
