Bergdorf Goodman: Scatter my ashes Movie
Bergdorf Goodman? Is this name familiar to you ladies? I’m sure it is, how couldn’t you know? It is the most famous luxury goods department store based in Fifth Avenue in the center of NYC! Bergdorf Goodman’s main store, which opened at its current location in 1928, is located in one of the busiest blocks in New York City and one of the most iconic corners of any city in the world – west side of Fifth Avenue. Today, Bergdorf operates from two stores situated across the street from each other at Fifth Avenue between 57th and 58th Streets.
The fashion has been transformed into modern art by this mythic American emporium. Like the always-ornate windows sprawling the 5th Avenue storefront, Bergdorf’s is much more than just fashion. But behind this glamorous, perfect world exists a very real and quite cruel world where the rich and famous wield their power and eccentricity, where young and talented designers have their dreams granted or denied, and where money and ambition co-mingle with radical ideas of beauty and provocative style.
Now we are much closer to get a chance to peek inside this world with the film Scatter My Ashes At Bergdorf’s. It is finally coming to New York City’s theatres on May 3rd! As we have mentioned before Bergdorf Goodman is one of our main sources of inspiration for KOKET collections. From the store experience, to the textures and colors displayed throughout the store, Bergdorf is the beginning and the end of KOKET’ love story and mission to create highly desirable statement pieces for the home. Every piece designed so far breathes the clothes and accessories that have been hanging at Bergdorf’s since the first time we walked in this magical and glamorous place. Therefore, we cannot hold the excitement on the thought of hearing the untold stories of this mythical store at NYC from the voice and experience of the masters and genius behind the history of fashion.
This documentary was produced by Matthew Miele and explores the history, inner workings and untold stories behind the store’s rise from a modest ladies’ tailor shop to a mirror of contemporary culture. Designers, buyers, window dressers and famous customers appear as active and crucial characters on this story. Giorgio Armani, Candice Bergen, Manolo Blahnik, Dolce & Gabanna, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Karl Lagerfeld, Susan Lucci, Christian Louboutin, Isaac Mizrahi, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, Thakoon Panichgul, Joan Rivers, Jason Wu among other fashion designers, style icons and celebrities are featured in this film.
Have a look at the trailer ladies, and see it for yourself. Don’t forget, the release is scheduled for May 3rd!
