The Beekman Hotel: Historic NYC Building Revival Gives Rise to Luxury Manhattan Hotel

At the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge in lower Manhattan lays an enchanting historical New York City landmark now home to The Beekman Hotel. The building was originally designed by architectural firm Silliman & Farnsworth in 1883 and was used for a variety of functions over its life before becoming a luxurious hotel.
After being boarded up for many years, the building’s revival was sparked by the unveiling of fashion designer Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2013 collection in its stunning atrium.
Subsequently, the ultra-talented Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel Architects and designer Martin Brudnizki were commissioned to renovate the building which opened as The Beekman Hotel in 2016. This stellar design team created a luxurious and sophisticated interior design which reveals the beauty of the edifice while maintaining its historic patina.
The interior’s public spaces are warm and inviting composed of rich dark materials with accents of solid jewel-toned blocks of colorful luxury furniture in vintage pinks, greens, reds, yellows and blues. A small scale hexagonal black and white tile pattern and inlaid wood span the floors and topped with large antique rugs creating coziness in the sitting areas and dining.
The brass of the railings encircling each of the atrium’s 9 exposed floors is elegantly echoed in lighting and furniture throughout the interior.
KOKET’s polished brass demi-lune stool, Mandy, adds a glamorous appeal to the sitting area where it resides alongside a delicious pink velvet sofa. This sitting area radiates KOKETness – get the look with our Mia luxury sofa, Desire art deco chairs, Eternity crystal sconce, and Lotus French floor lamp.
Bursts of sapphire blue, canary yellow, deep magenta and emerald green accent the 287 guestrooms which feature white walls and dark wood floors.
