If there was a single word to describe the beautiful interiors created by one of Texas’ top interior designers, Darla Bankston May of Bankston May Associates, it would most certainly be “timelessness”. Renowned for creating luxurious interiors that beautifully reflect her clients’ personalities and compliment their lifestyles, Darla and her design team have a vast knowledge and experience in all phases of design, from architectural planning and construction to interior concepts and furnishings and an extensive network of resources allowing them to offer true full-service interior design with a global reach.
After graduating from Texas State University with a BA in Interior Design and minors in both Architecture and Art History, Darla began an internship with Jan Nanna Cernan Designs. She stayed on there as a design associate for over seven years before following her life-long dream and forming her own firm Bankston May Associates, Inc. in 1999. She is a licensed Interior Designer in the State of Texas, and a Professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers. Darla is an active member of Preservation Houston, an organization that endeavors to revitalize Houston’s historic buildings, neighborhoods, and places.
Since its inception Bankston May Associates has received numerous awards, been featured in the industries top publications and provided impeccable design services to an array of clients across the United States and abroad.
As seen in her stunning portfolio of projects, Darla’s ability to work with a variety of aesthetics – classic, contemporary, rustic, traditional – allows her to brilliantly take on the challenge of creating distinct designs that perfectly reflect the tastes and needs of her clients. Darla’s spaces are filled with luxury furniture, high-end lighting and beautiful rugs accented with tastefully appointed art and accessories to fully personalize each space.
