When we read Architectural Digest’s article announcing that Linda Pinto, sister to prolific interior designer, Alberto Pinto, and Thierry Despont, international architect and designer, were joining forces, we just had to share! The duo has teamed up to create Design Partners (DP), a visionary merger bound to change the landscape of architecture and interior design.

DP represents a holistic approach to luxury design that will encapsulate every aspect of the process, from restoration to architecture, and eventually luxury goods. Their intention is to create an architectural design legacy akin to what many fashion brands have achieved. LVMH is their muse—a consolidated entity that owns namesake fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior.

Pinto and Despont are a natural fit—complementary designers and longtime friends that each bring their unique experiences and expertise to the project. Although both creators have both been on the international scene for many years working on very high-profile hotels, museums, and private residences, Despont has been based primarily in New York and Pinto in Europe. Merging the two regions will allow them both to better serve their international clientele. Many of their luxury clients have properties scattered on the international map, so it is advantageous to have a cohesive corporation with local ties to artisans and employees within these diverse regions.

The middle east is another region that Despont and Pinto plan to capture. Pinto’s Moroccan upbringing and recent partnership with the Emir of Qatar’s brother on the famous Hotel Lambert restoration in Paris, reveal her interest and ability in expanding her aesthetic and influence throughout different cultures.

Although Pinto’s personal aesthetic is much more sedate than her brother, the design firm that he established is well known for being able to work in a range of styles. The middle east is also a territory rich in capital and a keen opulent aesthetic, reminiscent of Alberto Pinto’s more-is-more philosophy. It’s only natural that Pinto serve this region with Despont.

Perhaps the most gratifying aspect of this partnership is that they plan to incubate young talent and naturally keep thousands of specialty artisans employed. DP’s to measure approach will ensure that the legacy of luxury design is nurtured in the up-and-coming talent of this generation and the artisans dedicated to excellence in their crafts will continue to thrive in this era.
