Rute Estrela | Founding Member, COO & Senior Designer

1. What makes you unique? My KOKET life experience. I want to solve a situation/problem and I’m hungry for novelty and to conquest new challenges. I am happy with new challenges and solutions for the these quests.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? Happiness is something that comes from inside the heart. It’s a positive energy that comes from you and is passed to the others. Smiling all the time and pass a message with your smile :).
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? Personality: Smiling person :), supportive, queen of making things happen – solution-oriented! Style: elegant?! Sometimes! Sexy! All the time! Colorful… when I m not representing KOKET, officially 😉
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “It’s possible!” “Let’s do this!” “ We will find the solution.” “I want a solution.”
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? I could be two different things… a soldier in the 1st line, protecting my squad. Or a very delicate butterfly, because I’m a wild person and it will be such a pleasure to be a magnificent butterfly in the natural setting and enjoy the nature, textures, smells.
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? Berlin in Europe or Chicago in America. I’m giving you cities that I know… if not… the list will be too big ;). Berlin because of the river, the art, the culture and the open-mindedness. Chicago because it’s one the most beautiful cities that I’ve been to.
7. What do you most value in your friends? Loyalty, friendship and the capacity they have to make me feel good and smiling.
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? I have a lot…. But some of my favorites are: Painters – Gustave Klimt, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol; Architecture – Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando; Fashion – Jonh Galliano, Oscar de la Renta; Design/Furniture – Patricia Urquiola, Konstantin Grcic.

10. What is your favorite part of working at KOKET? Finding solutions and learning all the time, every day from the most insignificant issue to the biggest problem we need to solve. I love what I do… I love the brand, the team and the mission we have!

1. What makes you unique? Always do more and better, I do not give up on challenges…Develop concepts and ideas through images and have the “eye” and the ability to produce images that reflect the idea of the brand and create a sense of seduction.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? To be able to live in a balance between work and personal life, the two must be balanced because both reflect what I am and when one of them is not complete the other fails. The smiles of my family make me happy :).

Rita Rodrigues | Sales & Business Development Director

1. What makes you unique? Being very cold, unemotional and detached from people; I am also against wearing socks from the same pair.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? I’m not sure perfect happiness would exist as a permanent state… rather, a moment of pure bliss for me would be being in a museum with all my favorite artists (Kahlo, Gogh, Klimt, Pollock, Monet, Magritte, Dalí, Vermeer) open at night with a concert in the hall by any of my favorite bands (I think Sigur-Ròs + Pollock would be quite poetic) with all my friends and only interesting people who have lived and come from all over the world, and no one would talk during the concert but afterwards contemplating the art. Open bar and pets welcome. I am also very happy in the woods, or in contact with nature, and feel very much in my element, but I always travel with books and music as they take me to that “blissful” state. Ps: I hope this survey is to get ideas for a surprise birthday party 😊
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? Simple, comfortable, moody.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “The ones who want, go; the ones who don’t want, tell someone to go.” (Makes more sense in Portuguese I guess). “The hand that puts the thing in the wrong place is the hand that puts it in the right place.” You know how you leave the house/office, you don’t know how you arrive. (Again, hard to translate!) “Your problem does not define you, the way you handle it does.” (Just realized they are all from my grandma and my mom, scary revelation).
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? An elephant. But I had to still be left-handed (or left-tusked, in this case).
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? San Jose or Medellín.
7. What do you most value in your friends? Honesty, fun, and how we are the same together whether we lived together for a few years or haven’t seen each other for months.
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? Very hard to pick so… if I was to have dinner at a Decodiva Table with anyone dead or alive from my favorite artists (trying to pick one of each field): Kahlo, Monet, Liszt, Le Corbusier, Niemeyer, Rufus Wainwright, Salman Rushdie, Hannah Arendt.
9. What 3 words come to mind when you think of KOKET? Love. Lust. Luxury.
10. What is your favorite part of working at KOKET? There’s a tie here: traveling and meeting/talking to clients. I really enjoy going to new cities and countries (even I don’t have time to go sightseeing) but my favorite thing to do even in the office is talking with clients, over the phone or in presence. I wish I could do that all day long.

Natalia Vilaca | Press & Internship Director

1. What makes you unique? Personality and life experiences.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? Family, love, stability, and health would be the fundamental things that make for my ideal life.  On a more basic note, fabulous shoes and handbags are great additions 😉.
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? Classic, polished, neutral colors.
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “Like”, “actually”, “hmmmm.”
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? Person:  I would like to come back as an improved version of myself.  I would be able to take all the experiences, mistakes, and everything I learned in my first life and apply it sooner and more productively in my second.
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
7. What do you most value in your friends? Honesty.
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? Fashion.  I love Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel  – her story and her brand.

I love working for a company that is so much more than it seems.  Yes, KOKET is a beautiful and luxurious furniture brand, but that is just the beginning.  As a KOKET employee, I am exposed to so much more than that; I often say it’s the KOKET World. I get to experience how our brand and CEO are out to make a difference and empower people. Each addition to the KOKET brand is thought out and included for a reason. Vânia Gomes | HR & Finances Manager

1. What makes you unique? More than the hard skills, what makes us different from anybody else are our soft skills. These are becoming more and more important. I like to think that I’m someone who is passionate about what I do, that I always try my best, and that I’m someone who is nice to have around.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? A family full of love, a job that makes us happy, and friends for life!
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? I’m curious (I always like to learn more), I’m friendly and impatient!
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “The more you take from others the less you have”. I do believe in karma, and karma is a woman! So if we are good life will bring us good things and good people to your life.
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? I think I would like to be reborn as a scientist and the knowledge to find a cure for a disease, to be remembered for something good and important in human history!
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? Despite being a “grey” city I really love London… although I think I would miss the beach!
7. What do you most value in your friends? A friend is someone who actually understands you, hears you and doesn’t misrepresent what you say. Someone you can trust and that helps me when I need it. Also, great company to enjoy a beer at the end of a sunny day!
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? I’m someone whose job isn’t quite connected with the beauty part of the business since I work in the financial department. But one designer that I do appreciate very much is Toni Grilo. The pieces and knowledge he shows is very interesting.
9. What 3 words come to mind when you think of KOKET? A brand constructed by a woman, for women. It’s good to be inside a brand where women can give they’re best and be able to make a brand grow! Unfortunately, we don’t live in a world where all women can express themselves and don’t have the same civil rights. KOKET is definitely a brand thought out for women who have the power and liberty to express, showing all their skills and knowledge in the business world.
10. What is your favorite part of working at KOKET? The fact that I’m able to help my colleagues in all different areas, from sales to orders…it’s good to know they trust my job and my skills and they trust the information I gave them.

Filipa Machado | Production Manager

1. What makes you unique? I believe that what makes me unique is my relaxed, calm and aggressive way of leading my life. For everything, it is necessary a balance and among all the options I have a little of each one. These characteristics make me always reach my goals even if I need to wait for a long time or walking by hard way but no matter how much it costs, in the end, I achieve the result.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? My idea of happiness is directly dependent on family, friends and personal fulfillment. In my opinion, we can only be happy when we are surrounded by people we like and who like us. Personal accomplishment is what makes our day to day move and what will create challenges and goals. Each one of these things is essential to happiness because it makes one move the other, we are only happy surrounded by whom we like, but also we are happy only if we did what we like and for that we like to has on our side who support us and be with us.
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? Organization, resilience, hope.
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? There is no good that always lasts or bad that never ends. “Lute com determinação, abrace a vida com paixão, perca com classe e vença com ousadia, porque o mundo pertence a quem se atreve e a vida é muito para ser insignificante.” – Augusto Branco
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? If I died and could choose how I would return to life, I would choose to return as someone who would make a difference in someone’s life, being in the medical, scientific or volunteer area. I wish I could help and make a difference even without being acknowledged, just knowing that I helped someone and that that made the person happier.
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? In addition to the current location, if I could choose, I would choose to live near the sea, as this would make it possible to recover energy for the next day in a calmer way. The calm of the sea and the noise of the waves are my best way to recharge energy.
7. What do you most value in your friends? Friends are not those who tell us what we want to hear but rather what we need to hear. For me, a friend is the one who has the courage to tell me what they think and feel without being afraid to hurt, because to like someone is to give our most sincere and convinced opinion that we are doing the best for the other and helping them, to develop it.
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? There are some people in the various areas who tell me something or who I consider to be exemplary within their area but there is one who by his insightful madness tells me a lot in his art. Fernando Pessoa is definitely one of the Portuguese poets that tells me a lot.
9. What 3 words come to mind when you think of KOKET? Empowered women. From woman to woman. Will to win.
10. What is your favorite part of working at KOKET? My favorite part of the job at KOKET is that every day is a new challenge and the team is so good, strong and cohesive. The work at KOKET is appealing because every day I am exposed to new situations and that somehow oblige me to create new forms of action and resolution.

Whitney Talkington | Product Specialist, US Logistics & Customer Care

1. What makes you unique? For me, this is a very difficult question to be posed with. There are so many different things and traits that make everyone unique. How can I be different from every other person on the planet? I consistently live in the present, and always look on the bright side of things. I do my best to encourage others and spread good vibes.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? There is no such thing. Happiness comes at times and in places you do not expect. If you were to perfect happiness, you would not appreciate anything because you have never experienced the sadness, rage, and other raw emotions life has to offer. Happiness changes with you. One day someone or something that makes you happy may not cut it the next. Happiness is erratic and spontaneous and that’s just the way I like it.
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? Sassy, classy, comfortable.
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? The generic “white girl words”: ‘Like’, ‘totally’, ‘omg’, ‘I can’t even’. Usually all together in one sentence.
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? A Bengal cat. They may be domesticated, but still have their primal patterns and quirky characteristics. You never really own a cat. They have their own minds, pride and freedom.
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? Somewhere remote, but with a strong wi-fi signal. Somewhere I can walk to my mailbox naked and not have to worry about who’s watching.
7. What do you most value in your friends? Humor! What good is a friend you can’t share joy and laughter with?! That is just a real-life LinkedIn connection.
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? I love anything big, sparkly, over the top, and hilarious. My current art crush is Ashley Longshore. Everything she does is bold, bright, and brilliant. She also does Lil Wayne pop art, and let’s be honest- it’s fabulous. When it comes to fashion, every time I pick something off the rack and think, “Wow I LOVE this!” the tag always reads the same name: Michael Kors. His designs are practical, stylish, and comfortable. In the interior design world, Studio Munge in Toronto has my heart. Every project they complete exemplifies their extreme passion for design. There is not a project they could not master. From bold, dark, all-over patterns, to clean simple lines paired with a unique light fixture, Studio Munge is my design dream team.

10. What is your favorite part of working at KOKET? I love watching a design blossom. When a project comes together and those final photos come in with a KOKET piece front and center, and another peeking in from a distant room in the background, I act like a kid on Christmas. The versatility of our pieces constantly amazes me and I love seeing them fit into so many different styles.

1. What makes you unique? Being myself and being true to that I believe. We are unique human beings and that’s the best thing we can ask for. Never give up and trust in our intuition.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? Find my inner peace and be able to do what I love the most.
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? Black, comfy and sneakers.
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? I think I don’t have any phrases or words that I’m constantly using.

Marian Henein | Middle East Brand Ambassador & Interior Designer

1. What makes you unique? Oh,  It’s a very hard question for me, but I think as an interior designer I used to drive to complete a task, no matter how difficult. And “I really enjoy learning new things and find that it’s easy for me to pick up on required skills.” Also “I truly enjoy excelling and pushing myself. I look forward to tasks where I can learn and grow.”
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? If you are happy – everything would look perfect! It’s as simple as that. When I see my kids happy, this is my perfect happiness! When I see my clients happy – I become happy that’s my perfect happiness.
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? Active, sensitive and creative.
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “I believe in doing the thing you feel is right. If it looks right, it is right.” – Dorothy Draper.
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? Butterfly! I love freedom, flying, love everything simple. Aren’t we all one-day butterflies, not aware of time. Searching for partners or honey until Death kisses us. Then in his arms, tenderly rocked, waiting for a new chance to fly away again and join the dance of the one-day butterfly.
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? Bali – Indonesia.  BALI IS PARADISE ON EARTH.
7. What do you most value in your friends? My friends are very important to me, with them I can laugh loudly away from the stress of busy life. They understand me a lot, listening to me and encouraging when I feel down.
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? Frank Lloyd Wright- 1867- 1959. “The mother art is architecture.” “Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.” “A doctor can bury his mistakes but an architect can only advise his clients to plant vines.”
9. What 3 words come to mind when you think of KOKET? Unique – chic – attractive.
10. What is your favorite part of working at KOKET? There are so many wonderful things about working for KOKET. My favorite part is as an interior designer – sharing my clients in their thoughts, giving some suggestions and watching the project grow like a baby. Then the greatest moment is when the client sends me a picture of their project. I also love the company culture and enjoy working with everyone. Also, I love working at KOKET because it allows me to gain a lot of knowledge.

1. What makes you unique? I believe that being unique is something a person can’t hide because we are all different, doesn’t matter if we like it or not. What makes me unique is that.
2. What is your idea of perfect happiness? If perfect is even a thing, I would say my idea of perfect happiness is knowing the world is at peace. I know that sounds cheesy but I honestly would feel content and at ease if everyone, everywhere, is at peace with one another.
3. What 3 words best describe your personal style? My personal style is everywhere because it solely depends on my mood for that day. But if I have to pick 3 words I would describe my personal style would be simple, trendy, and nice (for a lack of better words). I am the type of person that likes to keep in elegant but there are times that I like take a risk with fashion and try different looks.
4. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Ummmmm, words that I overuse? “Um” is one, I think a little too much of what I say which makes me pause a lot when speaking. “Oh my gosh” is another classical phrase that is on repeat and I tend to say “sorry” a lot too, even when it is not my fault.
5. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be? I would love to walk in every person’s shoes at least one, but if I have to choose a person or a thing to come back as it would be the one and only Marylin Monroe. I have a great admiration for her as a person even with her tragic death and bad reputation.
6. Where would you most like to live beside your current city? I would love to live in Honolulu, Hawaii. Unfortunately, I have never been there but it’s nice to dream about it even though people say that going on a vacation somewhere and living there is very different. I wouldn’t mind doing interior design on an island in the Pacific, with the beach at my feet, and hibiscus flowers outside my window.
7. What do you most value in your friends? I most value honestly in my friends. I expect them to be open and truthful with what they tell me, even if it’s something that I don’t want to hear.
8. Who are your favorite artistic minds? This is tough to answer because I honestly don’t have a favorite “artistic mind” in any of the departments it consists of. I am everywhere when it goes to what  I enjoy and like so I can’t and don’t place myself in one category.
9. What 3 words come to mind when you think of KOKET? Desire, glamorous, and empowering.
10. What is your favorite part of working at KOKET? My favorite part about working for Koket is the mission behind the design of each piece. To empower others, mostly women, to love and aspire to do great things is something that I stand for myself so, through Koket I can have a greater voice.
