December is coming and for many that means it’s time to turn up the Christmas music and spread the joy, but for those with the designer’s eye and a love for art, it’s time to dig up those bathing suits from summer and head down to Miami for Miami Art Week, Art Basel Miami 2018, and Design Miami/ 2018. At the heart of Miami Art Week, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center from December 6-9 Art Basel Miami will take center stage in the experience of a lifetime.
Art Basel was initially founded in Basel, Switzerland in 1970 and in 2002 expanded to Miami because of its unique location in between North and South America and it’s amazing city culture as a hub of creativity that can be seen within its state of the art museums or walking down the street.

Drawing over 77,000 art dealers, artists, and collectors and having over 260 galleries from over 33 countries, Art Basel Miami has become North America’s most complete international art fair generating over 20 Satellites and having enough parties and events circulating to make every minute of your experience at Art Basel Miami memorable.

Create & Cultivate Vision Summit
Create and Cultivate Vision Summit will be hosting multiple female entrepreneurs in power from the worlds of art, tech, design, and food. Actress Jamie Chung, Rent The Runway founder Jenn Hyman and CEO of Disfunkshion Magazine Hugette Montesinos, lead a discussion with the goal to inspire and enlighten up and coming creative geniuses.
The Art Plug Power House
As you walk through the blocks of The Art Plug Power House you’ll encounter monster truck and motorbike shows, High Hemp Smoke+ Mirrors, more than 30 activations, and over 20 artists all contributing to turn this abandoned impound into a glorious gallery.
Sleeping Beauty Dreams
Sleeping Beauty Dreams is a ballet performance that mends together tech and art to drag the audience into a complex storytelling experience of a 19th century story retold in the 2018 way.
Basel House
Basel House brings together art, nightlife and fun activations in a weekend where you can see 40 large scale murals and installations, shop at dozens of pop up shops, and leave your mark on Miami in one of the graffiti workshops.
The Art of Banksy
The Art of Banksy sheds light on the underappreciated London based street artist by having his traveling exhibit make a stop in Miami where it will display 80 original works including a print of the renowned Girl with a Balloon.
Feminist Fireworks by Judy Chicago
Judy Chicago, the famous women’s activist who found the ground to be too masculine and so decided to bring femininity to the atmosphere through fireworks, will light up the sky at Miami Beach where she seeks to spread her message of sexual equality to all of Miami with a bang. The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami’s “Judy Chicago: A Reckoning” opens December 4.

Design Miami/ 2018, But for interior designers everywhere and anyone who appreciates furniture the Miami Art Week show will be stolen by Design Miami/. Where the most influential collectors, gallerists, designers, curators, and critics from around the world will come together, Design Miami/ is an appreciation of exhibit worthy 20th and 21st century furniture pieces, it’s a place for commercial opportunities, and it is also the breeding ground for unique collaborations amongst designers and design institutions of architecture, art, design, and fashion that wish to create new jaw dropping pieces. It will be opened from the 5th of December to the 9th and is adjacent to the Miami Beach Convention Center, a short walk from Art Basel in Miami Beach.
