Classy, elegant, and creative; James Lee, founder of L’Avventura & Associates made art of the blank portrait that was the oceanfront Grand Bay View Hotel Zhuhai, China. Overlooking the Jiuzhou Bay with the neighboring Macao skyline in the distance, this stunning international resort is a must see!
Completed in May 2018 the Grand Bay View Hotel Zhuhai took inspiration from the coastline and embodies the ocean in its design. Playing with this theme, Lee slipped into his labyrinthine of innovative creation and contorted it into the hotel’s, now, modern and luxurious ambiance.
Entering the hotel plunges you below the surface as you arrive in an underwater setting. Complete with translucent screens, creating a sense of intimacy and curiosity; untreated wooden panels, providing a sense of nature; and a three-dimensional ceiling panel illustrating the shifting undersea sands.
Before arriving at one of the hotel’s 316 rooms the elevator provides a sense of serenity, through low light contrives.
Upon entering the rooms you will find a simplified look that gives a contemporary and comfortable feel through its clean white styling. Inspired by the silk road and its elegance, the suites’ ceramic patterns, traditional Chinese window shapes, and silk wall coverings bring each room an element of luxury while also epitomizing Chinese tradition.
Within the Grand Bay View Hotel Zhuhai, there are two different restaurants under the hotel’s authority and part of James Lee’s wonderous hospitality design. The first offers an all-day dining experience that is meant to portray the essence of a blooming romance with white and gold ceramic leaves. Inspired by a Parisian spring this restaurant makes for a fresh and spirited dining experience.
The second is a Chinese restaurant that looks to mirror the relationship and interaction between the East and the West. Centered around a Chinese vase that was once stolen by England, but then later returned, this restaurant incorporates a Middle Eastern design that captures the essence of the silk road and divides the room allowing for a sense of intimacy amongst clients. Guests are welcomed into fabric booths or modern leather chairs. And finally, a three-tiered crystal chandelier combines Eastern silk and Western crystals to provide a cozy illumination to the room.
In the ballroom, James Lee created the feeling of being at the beach at sunset through his incorporation of a crystal chandelier with golden beams creating a soft and warm light. James Lee tops off his designer hotel ballroom with contemporary columns and a carpet that emulates light shimmering on wet sand.
The Grand Bay View Hotel’s hospitality design is pure mastery! If you plan to be in Zhuhai in the near future it is a must visit!
