Alexander McQueen Exhibition Roses

The new Alexander McQueen Exhibition Roses explores the fashion house’s love affair with flowers and their symbolism. It is displayed on the second floor of the brand’s flagship store in London. There you will find the Rose Dress crafted by Sarah Burton, which closed the Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2019 show. And the dress constructed by Lee Alexander McQueen himself with fresh flowers from the end of the Sarabande SS2007 Show.
“Everything I do is connected to nature in one way or another”
Lee Alexander McQueen
Roses starts with this quote at the entrance, reflecting on what the guests can expect to see inside.

At each design, the guests can pick up a label and discover the history behind the dress. For example, Burton’s Rose Dress presented above is presented also by a video of Judy Halil constructing the twisted taffeta from beginning to the end. Besides this, some dresses showcase how it went from toile to the final stages.
In the Alexander McQueen Exhibition, you can find other dresses, designed by McQueen and Burton, all decorated with roses, camellias or garden flowers.
Sarah Burton opened the exhibition last week with a talk for students and the best part is that she plans to spearhead an ongoing program of events for students from colleges across the U.K!! Burton also shared with the students the memories and some techniques which are alive in the culture of the house.
