Meet Sabrina Panizza & Aude Lerin, Founders of pl_studio, and Be Empowered!
Love Happens: As our name, and the tagline of our publisher KOKET denotes, at ‘Love Happens’ we are firm believers that you cannot achieve any level of success without love. When did your love affair with branding begin? And how did it make you feel?
Sabrina Panizza: It all started when I realised that my appearance, my image, the way I looked every day, both at work and in my social life, helped me gain trust and respect from people around me and somehow accelerated the process of achieving my professional and personal goals. Personal style is an extremely important part of personal branding, which, in turn, is crucial to increase self-confidence, self-awareness and reach fulfillment and happiness. It all started there, and this is, without doubt, a never-ending love!
Aude Lerin: This is a bit of a difficult question. I first started being aware of ‘style’ very young, thanks to my mother, who encouraged me to pursue a career in fashion design. At school, I discovered the notions of ‘concept’, ‘image’, and ‘consistency’ and I learned how crucial these are in today’s world. Not only did these concepts and ideas become part of me and guide me through my creative journey, but they also became the lens through which I looked at things. This improved my self-confidence and self-esteem. The key is coherence, and this is what personal branding is about. Being coherent and showing who I truly am makes me feel more empowered and effective. What a waste of time to try to be different!
Lh: What empowers you?
Sabrina: Having the opportunity to work with my partner to achieve our goals together is very empowering and keeps me motivated to pursue my dreams. Achieving goals also makes me feel pretty good about myself; it is very important for me to set goals, even the small ones, and keep focused. I guess working towards success makes me feel empowered!
Aude: Challenges! Nothing excites me more than having to do something that sounds impossible in record time. Launching pl_studio in the middle of the pandemic was quite one of them! I’ve never felt so good. Challenges make me feel alive! And proud! Lots of things are possible if we decide that they are. There is no one way to achieve goals, but plenty, and having the opportunity to work on everything we are passionate about is more than empowering.
Lh: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Sabrina: Having set up a company together with my life partner, it’s a dream come true!
Aude: I would say the same! I have always wanted to create my own business, I just wasn’t sure whether that would be in fashion, photography, or interior design. It was not easy to understand what exactly and how to do it, but I am lucky enough to have met my half in business, who is my life partner. It was immediately clear to me that we had to work together as we share the same vision of absolutely everything and communicate it in a complementary way.
Lh: Who is Sabrina Panizza the Woman?
Sabrina: I am determined, committed to anything I undertake, and always try to do better. In fact, I am quite tough on myself! Trust, honesty, and integrity are some of the values I firmly believe in, and I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by people who share the same values. My partner is of course at the top of the list!
I am always attracted to the most striking style, bright colours, and bold patterns and I love expressing myself fully through my personal style.
Lh: Who is Aude Lerin the Woman?
Aude: I am a passionate person, with no half measure. I am hyperactive and demanding on myself.
Lh: Who is Sabrina Panizza the co-founder of pl_studio?
Sabrina: I would probably be repeating myself as pl_studio is a true reflection of who I am in real life. My partner and I wanted to create a business that was a reflection of who we are and our shared vision, that was incredibly important for us.
Lh: Who is Aude Lerin the co-founder of pl_studio?
Aude: The same. Pl_studio is 100% both of us, nothing more, nothing less.
Empowerment involves putting yourself in “power positions” by leveraging your resources to improve your situation.
Lh: How do you empower other women?
Sabrina: Creating opportunities to develop their self-awareness and boost their self-confidence through strong personal branding and style.
Aude: By being truly interested in them. Starting with being a good listener, and showing my constant support. I encourage everyone to consider personal branding. Empowerment involves putting yourself in “power positions” by leveraging your resources to improve your situation. Style is often overlooked but can be quite an easy way for a quick self-confidence boost.
Lh: What advice would you give to a young woman starting her career?
- Study the industry you would like to work in well, so you have a clear picture of what the possibilities within the market are. Being aware of what’s out there will certainly give you more confidence and courage to create your own opportunities.
- Try to be persistent but at the same time don’t be forget to question yourself. Be adaptable and resourceful.
- Try and find ways to develop a strong professional network as that can be a powerful tool to climb up the career ladder.
- Ask for help if you need it. It is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength. Having a mentor can be a great way to find guidance and support and avoid the feeling of being lost or overwhelmed
- Never stop learning.
The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.Arthur C. Clarke
Lh: Do you have any favorite empowering quotes you like to live by?
Sabrina: “There is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind,” Virginia Wool; and “In the future, there will be no female leaders. There will just be leaders,” Sheryl Sandberg.
Aude: “I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: Try to please everybody,” Herbert Swope; and “The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible,” Arthur C. Clarke.
Lh: What’s next for pl_studio?
Sabrina: We help businesses and individuals improve their image by creating a distinct and cohesive look and feel and we do that through different disciplines, from visual communication to interiors and personal styling, however, we are now planning to expand our offering to include furniture. It is still too soon to reveal more details, but we hope we will be able to share the exciting project we are working on in the next few months!
Aude: To give a ‘3D dimension’ to our vision!
