What is your idea of perfect happiness?

There’s nothing better than laughing so hard and experiencing deep belly laughs with someone you love.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Besides being a mother to my awesome son, Finley, I’m quite proud of my career. Building a company, growing an incredible team, and supporting my own business while doing something I love is a dream come true.

I grew up watching and learning from my dad and three brothers as they worked on and built our family contracting business. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and this experience helped me find my own path in a parallel industry. I quit my cushy 9-5 job out of college, tried my hand full-time at design and the rest is history!

What profession does your alter ego have?

A movie star, of course! I love fashion, so it would be amazing to have the opportunity to dress and act the part in all decades of history – from Versailles to Don Draper – I love it all.

The project you will never forget.

One project I’ll never forget is our Mclean, VA project. It’s a bold, sultry combination of black, white, and geometric with pops of color. It’s been 10 years and people still call me to recreate this room. Not to mention, I love the client. She’s totally willing to go on a design journey with me and take her version of bold to another level.

Your favorite business tool or resource.

1st Dibs! It’s not just for purchases, but it also serves as an at-your-fingertips encyclopedia of decades of style.

The most timeless design.

I love 18th-century European design. You can gaudy it up, lacquer it in lipstick, or keep it original and it’s always in style.

The biggest design faux pas.

Lots of small furnishings and accessories in a large space, or all accessories and furniture at the same scale. It’s so uneasy and always looks like a cluttered-up mess.

Your design motto.

More is more! You can always edit down, but don’t be afraid to make a bold statement with at least one piece of furniture, accessory, or lighting element that tells the story of your personality. Set the stage and the mood. Dare to be different – don’t buy out of a catalog. Make your home feel like a well-traveled lifestyle.

Our publisher KOKET makes statement décor, if you were to design a room around one KOKET piece, which would it be, and why?

I would love to design a space around the Lé-Lé Bench. I’m imagining the sultry, deep velvet fabric adorned in metal passementeries floating between two seating arrangements. I’d love to create a luxurious lounge reminiscent of the Solid Gold Dancers era with all the fabulous glitz and glam.

Love happens when…

A moment or experience or a person makes you smile or giggle like you’re a teenager dancing on a table to your favorite song. I also find love happens when you surround yourself with things and people you love. I’m lucky enough to wake up every day surrounded by love.
