The Women Taking the Stage at Hotel & Resort Innovation Expo 2022
On the 19th & 20th of October 2022, the ExCeL, London, will become the UK’s leading hub for hoteliers seeking new and creative ways to transform their business and heighten their occupancy rates at the Hotel & Resort Innovation Expo 2022. We want to pay a special tribute to the most creative and innovative women in the hospitality sector who will leave their mark through enticing keynote sessions and seminars.
The industry’s most forward-thinking figureheads will pass on invaluable knowledge and advice, helping visitors learn how to stand out from the competition and increase their occupancy rates. By talking to the pros, industry newcomers will gain the confidence to expand their business and end the show with inspiration to reach their business goals.
One of the show’s key themes this year is sustainability, and helping to spread awareness is Lamington Group’s Sustainability & Communications Specialist, Melisa Gooding, with her keynote talk, ‘How Can We Make Hospitality More Sustainable?’
The built environment is responsible for a whopping 40 percent of the world’s carbon emissions, and the hotel industry has been criticised for lagging in decarbonising. Discussing strategy, workforce, and how to communicate about this issue both internally and externally, Melisa will deep dive into Lamington Group’s experience of implementing a net-zero strategy, how to engage your workforce, and lessons that the industry is learning along the way.
Also tackling the topic of sustainability within hospitality on the keynote stage is Claire Whitely, Head of Environment at the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, with her speech ‘Hospitality With Purpose, for People, Planet and Prosperity.’
Claire oversees the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance’s environmental sustainability strategy, including their work on climate action, water stewardship, and responsible resourcing. She led the development of the Alliance’s Pathway to Net Positive Hospitality and continues to drive collaborative action between 18 member companies (including Hilton, IHG, and Marriott) to enable the whole hospitality industry to have a lasting positive impact on our planet.
Claire has a decade’s experience driving sustainability progress in the industry, having previously worked for Hilton. She worked on projects including updating Hilton’s global CR strategy, leading their water stewardship efforts, and creating behaviour change campaigns, as well as energy efficiency, single-use plastic reduction, and responsible sourcing initiatives.
A fundamental part of innovating your hotel and bringing it into the future is embracing new technological advancements. One woman who is representing this cause at Hotel & Resort Innovation Expo 2022 is Zlata Rybchenko. Zlata is an architect, interior designer, founder, and CEO of 4 successful companies (Ohra Studio, Desirum, Spacefeeling, and Perspectik) in the field of 3D technologies and design.
Born in Ukraine, Zlata went on to study architecture in Belgium, where she subsequently set up her own architecture firm ZR Architects, and launched her first interior design startup. Since 2019 she has been living in London, where she is successfully continuing to build her business in the field of innovative interior design, virtual reality, and the Metaverse.
In her seminar, ‘How Digital Technology Is Revolutionising Interior Design in the Hospitality Industry’, Zlata will talk us through how the world of hospitality is changing. As a winner of prestigious interior design prizes and a person who empowers others to go beyond limits, this session is not to miss!
