The iconic modernist Eileen Gray began her career as a visual artist and continued to create throughout her furniture and textile design career. On special display for Milan Design Week 2023 from April 17 – 23, ClassiCon, a holder of many modern design licenses, hosts an exhibition of her work. Come be empowered and inspired by a powerful woman in the history of modern design. ClassiCon will also have rug designs by Eileen Gray on display at Salone del Mobile.

The Elephant in the Room

The Elephant in the Room is all about exploring the textile industry today and how to make it more sustainable, responsible, and ethical—created in collaboration with Castello Sforzesco, City of Milan, supply chain partners The Woolmark Company, Groz-Beckert, Mayer & Cie, Santoni, and Südwolle Group, along with notable furniture companies Lensvelt, Montis, and Arco.
Palazzo delle Meraviglie

Set in Milan’s luxurious Montenapoleone district, the Palazzo delle Meraviglie event hosts a selection of brands exhibiting their products. Curated by the founders of architecture and interior design firm Studio MHZ, Katrin Herden and Alessandro Zarinelli, the collection aims to highlight international design. Designs by Zaha Hadid, Karimoku, Phillip Jeffries, LCD textile, Hommés Studio, Delvis Unlimited, and Sohil, inspiration abounds!
Dreams in Progress with Bolzan

Master of stylish sleep, Bolzan opens a new space in Milan during the design week festivities! Based in Treviso, Made-in-Italy innovation and artisanship radiate from Bolzan beds. During Milan Design Week 2023, Bolzan’s showroom opening features a dreamlike installation titled Dreams in Progress, designed by Zanellato/Bortotto. The brand’s promise to environmental good is central, and their hyper-versatile daybed/bed/sofa/bench/chaise is a must-see.
Licking Rocks at Isola Design Gallery

This one is definitely out of the box but well worth noting for its innovation and class. Licking Rocks tea set is made of local leftover stones designed to use while drinking lichen tea. The project acts as a taste experience and a tea ceremony that invites you to drink consciously. Lichens have the unique ability to soak up the flavor of the environment in which they grow, and it also might remind you of licking a rock. Yes, you read that correctly!
