When did your love affair with beauty begin? And how did it make you feel?
My love affair with beauty began at a young age. I was always captivated by the transformative power of aesthetic enhancement. It made me feel empowered and inspired, knowing that I could help individuals feel more confident and comfortable in their skin.
Tell us a bit about your path and what led to your decision to start Luísa Magalhães Ramos Cirurgia Plástica and Skin Boutique by LMR.
My journey to starting Luísa Magalhães Ramos Cirurgia Plástica and Skin Boutique by LMR was a culmination of years of dedication to the field of plastic surgery and aesthetics. I was driven by a desire to create a space where women could access personalized, high-quality care tailored to their unique needs and desires.

Do you recall any critical turning point when you realized your business was succeeding? If so, please explain.
One critical turning point that stands out to me was when we received overwhelmingly positive feedback from our patients. They expressed gratitude for the exceptional results and compassionate care they received at our clinic. It reaffirmed that we were making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
What do you consider your greatest achievement to date?
My greatest achievement to date is undoubtedly the impact I’ve been able to make on the lives of my patients. Whether it’s restoring confidence after a specific moment that led to a significant body transformation, such as motherhood or drastic weight loss, or helping someone achieve their dream aesthetic, knowing that I’ve played a role in their happiness and well-being is incredibly fulfilling.
Who/what has contributed most to your success?
The success of my business is the result of a collaborative effort. It is thanks to my dedicated team, supportive mentors and family, and loyal patients. Their unwavering belief in our mission and commitment to excellence has been instrumental in our success.
What surprised you most about growing a business?
What surprised me most about growing a business was the importance of adaptability and resilience. The landscape of plastic surgery and aesthetics is constantly evolving. Staying ahead of the curve requires a willingness to embrace change and navigate challenges with grace and determination.
Tell us about your most demanding client. What was the experience, and what did you learn from it?
Every client brings unique challenges and opportunities for growth. One particularly demanding client stands out to me as a valuable learning experience. Open communication and a commitment to understanding their needs was key. We were able to navigate the situation with patience, empathy, and, ultimately, a successful outcome.
How do you handle negative feedback or criticism of your work?
Negative feedback and criticism are an inevitable part of any business. But I approach it as an opportunity for growth and improvement. I value constructive criticism as a means of refining my skills and enhancing the quality of care we provide. By maintaining an open mind and a willingness to learn from feedback, I can continue to evolve as a practitioner and business owner.
If you could have done something different, what would it be?
If I could have done something differently, I would have prioritized self-care and work-life balance earlier in my career. It’s essential to nurture both personal and professional aspects of life to sustain long-term success and fulfillment.
The fact that I love my job helps me a lot to overcome difficulties, even in the toughest times. It’s like they say, “Love what you do and you’ll never have to work a day”.
What helps you move forward with your business despite the inevitable struggles?
What helps me move forward despite struggles is maintaining a strong sense of purpose and passion for what I do. Knowing that I’m making a positive impact on the lives of others motivates me to overcome obstacles and persevere through challenges. What’s more, the fact that I love my job helps me a lot to overcome difficulties, even in the toughest times. It’s like they say, “Love what you do and you’ll never have to work a day”.

What advice would you give to someone starting their career in plastic surgery or beauty in general?
My advice to someone starting their career in plastic surgery would be to prioritize continuous learning. Hone your craft and never lose sight of the human element behind the procedures. Treat each patient with empathy, respect, and dignity, and always strive to exceed their expectations.
Do you have any mottos you like to live by?
One motto I live by is “Embrace the journey and trust the process.” It reminds me to stay present, resilient, and optimistic, even in the face of adversity. Another empowering quote that resonates with me is, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” It serves as a reminder to pursue my passions wholeheartedly and never settle for anything less than excellence.

Looking ahead, the future of our brand is filled with exciting opportunities for growth, innovation, and continued impact. DR. ALICE VARANDA PEREIRA

Dr. Alice Varanda Pereira graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. She completed her Master’s degree in human sexuality and is currently developing her PhD at this same institution.
She joined the University faculty academic staff in 2008 as a lecturer at the Institute of Anatomy. It is in this unit that she produces most of her research projects, mainly in surgical anatomy, whilst also supervising master’s thesis for undergraduate students.
DR. MARIANA DA ROCHA MARTINS

Dr. Mariana Da Rocha Martins graduated by the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Porto and specialized in reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery at Hospital de São José, in Lisbon.
Throughout her specific training in plastic surgery, she worked in internationally renowned institutions such as Institut Kaplan (Barcelona), La Clinic (Montreux), and Great Ormond Street Hospital (London).

Dr. Marta Gouveia Duarte graduated in Medicine from the School of Health Sciences of the University of Minho, where she completed her Master’s thesis in Human Aging. She concluded her specialty in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery at the Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Central – Hospital de São José. Collaborates in several research projects at NOVA Medical School.
DR. FILIPA OLIVEIRA

Dr. Filipa Oliveira specializes in Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. She graduated in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, where she completed her master’s thesis on pediatric scars. In September 2015, she began her specialty in plastic surgery in the general, thoracic, and vascular surgery department at Prosper Hospital in Recklinghausen. In 2017 she moved to the Plastic Surgery department at St. Marien Hospital in Lüdinghausen. There she specialized in post-bariatric, tumour, and aesthetic surgery.
During her specific training in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, she did several internships in renowned hospitals and clinics in Germany (Wiesbaden, Bochum, Halle, Köln-Wesseling, Essen, Kassel), Brazil (Porto-Alegre) and Portugal (LMR Clinic). After completing her specialty, she became a Senior Graduate Assistant (Oberärztin) at the Fachklinik Hornheide and the University of Münster. Her main areas of interest are body contouring surgery, breast and facial aesthetic surgery.
DR. CAROLINA LALANDA
Endocrinologist / Clínica LMR & Skin Boutique by LMR / Order of Physicians No., Nº 46385
Dr. Carolina Lalanda graduated from Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa and earned a degree in Endocrinology at Hospital de Santa Maria in 2015. She has dedicated ten years to the study and treatment of endocrine and metabolic imbalances, with an emphasis on weight loss. Menopause is often associated with weight gain, and it has become a growing problem in our fast-paced society. Due to this common issue, Dr. Carolina has dedicated a large part of her career to this topic.
DR. MAFALDA CLETO

Dr. Mafalda Cleto has a master’s in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon with a specialization in family medicine. She specialized in aesthetic and anti-aging medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid. In the area of aesthetic medicine, she performs numerous procedures, such as the application of toxin and fillers, both for correcting wrinkles and for facial harmonization (filling in dark circles, cheekbones, lips, jaw, chin, and rhinomodelation), usage of biostimulators to improve skin quality and flaccidity. She also performs thread lifts and biostimulation and techniques that aim to improve the texture and quality of the skin, such as chemical peel, microneedling, facial and body mesotherapy, and sclerotherapy.
In her view, aesthetic medicine encompasses a set of minimally invasive medical procedures, which should be used to enhance the natural beauty of each individual and help delay the signs of aging. She found her vocation in aesthetic medicine as it allows her to help people regain their self-esteem and increase their physical and psychological well-being.
DR. ANA MENDES GOMES

Dr. Ana Mendes Gomes has a master’s degree in medicine by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Masaryk in Brno. She later completed a master’s degree in aesthetic medicine and anti-aging at the Complutense University of Madrid. She is a specialist in family medicine by the Regional Health Administration of the Lisbon Area.
Throughout her career, she undertook specific training in minimally invasive procedures, namely in the application of toxin, facial fillers, thread lifts and facial mesotherapy, thus differentiating herself in the treatment and prevention of skin aging.
DR. NELIA CUNHA
Dermatologist / Clínica LMR & Skin Boutique by LMR / Medical License, Nº 52765
Dr. Nelia Cunha completed her Integrated Master’s in Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, and her Internship in the Dermatovenereology Specialty at the Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Lisboa Central. Her activity encompasses General Dermatology (acne, rosacea, eczema, screening/evaluation of “signs”, pigmented and non-pigmented skin blemishes and lesions, among others), hair and nail diseases, dermatologic surgery and laser therapy, including skin rejuvenation procedures, such as Fractional CO2 Laser.
Dr. Cunha participates in national and international courses of the specialty and areas of her differentiation. She collaborates in the training of doctors in the area of Dermatology. Additionally, she teaches Dermatology at the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and she is an investigator in Multicenter Clinical Trials. She has authored and co-authored articles in scientific journals and book chapters in the field of Dermatology.
