What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Lynn Berney: Perfect happiness, in my opinion, comes from within. I think it means being true to yourself and not trying to be someone else or something else. It means being surrounded by real friends, a strong family, and enjoying life. Happiness means having control and a sense of autonomy over your life. Finding meaning and purpose is also a key ingredient. To be happy, I believe, people need to spend time with family and friends, have the time to pursue passions and interests, and, lastly, feel fulfilled in their professional life.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Tracy Gould: I think for the three of us our greatest achievement is being able to establish a thriving business by pursuing a passion we all love. Each of us loves the world of interior design and fully enjoys creating incredible spaces for our clients. Having the ability to do this as a “job” is an amazing feeling of self-fulfillment and accomplishment.

What profession does your alter ego have?
Alexa Evans: My alter ego is an artistic designer, someone who can make something out of nothing. I envy the person who can take a pile of torn-up clothes that look like they are ready for the recycling bin and create the most awesome, cool outfit. My alter ego is great with her hands and can paint unique portraits with a deep message and sculpt unusual figures that are thought provoking.
The project you will never forget.
Lynn: The project I will never forget began in the summer of 2019. Our Manhattan client decided to purchase a phenomenal apartment in West Chelsea in a building that was in the construction stages and scheduled to be completed during the summer of 2020. Over the course of that year, my partners and I worked hard to make this unique space both artistic and suitable for a family of four. Due to the twisted shape of the building, there were many unusual factors forcing us to custom-make many items. Unfortunately, in that time frame, the world shut down due to COVID-19, and the building went through bankruptcy. Months went by, and eventually, our client found a new stunning apartment also in the West Chelsea neighborhood. As a team, we worked hard to make many of the previously purchased items work in this new space. Today, the apartment is complete and one of our favorite projects.
Your favorite business tool or resource.
Tracy: Travel is our favorite business tool. Whether it’s a walk in the park or a long trip across the world, we acquire our inspiration from living and assimilating ourselves into different cultures, communities, and settings.

The most timeless design.
Alexa: Timeless designs are understated classics. They involve neutral palettes, symmetry, balance, and a mix of raw materials, including wood, stone, and metal. Most classic designs center around a particular object, such as a fireplace, dining table, or bed.
The biggest design faux pas.
Lynn: I think there are several major design faux pas that all designers should be conscious of before getting started on a project. Number 1, make sure you know the scale of the room so your furniture fits comfortably in its place. Number 2, don’t try to incorporate too many styles in a single project. Choose your style and stick to it throughout the project. Lastly, don’t make your project a sign of the times and use too many trends that will quickly outdate the project.

Your design motto.
Tracey: Know your client. From the start, it is crucial to get a strong understanding of what your client is looking to accomplish and their expectations of the end results.
Our publisher, KOKET, sells statement décor. If you were to design a room around one of their pieces, which would it be, and why?
Alexa: I think the Fortuna Patina Coffee Table makes an iconic statement. The look of multi-sized coffee tables as well as irregular natural edges, has proven to stand the length of time. This piece is noticeable and carries weight, allowing it to be the most important piece in a particular room.
Love Happens when…
Lynn: Love Happens when you can fully share your heart with someone else.
