With a sharp eye for detail and a thoughtful approach to design, Rachel Sloane Sherman has made a name for herself designing spaces that are equally as elegant as they are inviting. Her approach is intuitive, not overworked—less about trends, more about timelessness. As the founder of Rachel Sloane Interiors in New York City, she approaches each project with grace, blending classic design principles with a fresh perspective that feels uniquely her own.

Her work is marked by a love of subtle color, natural textures, and thoughtful layering, creating rooms that feel both elevated and personal. Rachel’s interiors reflect not just refined style, but mindful intention. Her designs stand out to clients as charming, tailored, and full of subtle detail.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

When the people closest to me are all healthy, happy, and feeling inspired to be their best.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Launching my business at the same time my first daughter was born, and watching it grow into what it is today.

What profession does your alter ego have?

My alter ego is a typographer.

The project you will never forget.

Tamsin Johnson’s personal home. I love how she so seamlessly mixes periods and styles, making it all feel so eclectic and homey.

Your favorite business tool or resource.

Slack. This single-handedly has transformed my email from a place of chaos to a place of calm. My email is all vendor and client-focused, and our internal communication is almost only on Slack! Life changing.

The most timeless design.

A Jean Royere Hirondelle wall light.

The biggest design faux pas.

Curtains that don’t touch the ground.

Your design motto.

Bring it [the design] back to the architecture or to the clients’ essence.

Our publisher, KOKET, makes statement décor. If you were to design a room around one of their pieces, which would it be, and why?

I would love to design around the stunning Myth coffee table in aged brass. I love its organic nature mixed with the high-impact material. The metalwork on the surface is basically a work of art that would draw your eyes into the center of the sitting area. It would also pair so easily with my natural inclination towards warm-toned upholstery!
