2025 Trends in Summer Jewelry

In the spring, Cosmopolitan said it was “Go big or go home” as far as jewelry was concerned. Spring was a time for maximalism, with charm necklaces, 80s cocktail rings, chained and decorative belts, and bold gemstones. Is summer 2025 going to stick with the maximalism, or are we turning towards understated pieces? Here are the standout trends in earrings, necklaces, rings, belts, and gemstones.

Earrings

Dangly, oversized baubles were in for the spring. Brands like Kate Spade, Hessawell, and Etikka were going all out with outlandish designs. Saint Laurent and Etro presented some outrageous earrings for SS25, but was that just a passing trend?

Probably not, is the short answer. Cushla Whiting, co-founder of the eponymous fine jewelry brand, said large cuffs and bangles are having their time. Layered, chunky chains and charms are in. And for Whiting, it was about time that lapel pins and brooches returned.

Necklaces

Summer 2025 hasn’t been all about maximalism, though. British Vogue highlighted some more understated necklaces from Loquet, Kirstie Le Marque, Otiumberg, and Alighieri. Minimalist designs and silver pendants rarely go out of style. Completedworks founder Anna Jewsbury told Vogue she was excited by the duality of minimalism with certain maximalist pieces. In 2025, more people can combine statement gold earrings or cocktail rings with an understated pendant or Star of David necklace. Starfish necklaces, crystal charm necklaces, and shell mermaid necklaces are also popular.

Rings

Rings are another area where maximalism has been king, or queen, this year. Giant gemstones and bold colours are popular. Brands like Petit Moments, Saviene, and Mytys are selling affordable, eyecatching pieces. Cosmopolitan’s Hannah Oh said 2025 was the time to stack our rings. Jewel rings, gold plater flower designs, and signet rings are all in demand.

Belts

In their spring/summer shows, Miss Sohee, Miu Miu, Chloé, and Chanel debuted gold chains, gold medallions, and mixed metal belts. Bling was in. And it still is – flashy designs are still popular, though utility belts and slimline belts have also had their fair share of attention this year.

Then there are eco-conscious belts, recycled from leather and vegan alternatives. Repurposed leather often has the look and feel of leather while reducing waste.

Gemstones

Statement gemstones have had their time in the spotlight this year, with Armani and Germanier showcasing some unignorable birthstones and rhinestones. From tennis bracelets to charm necklaces, gemstones haven’t been this popular for several years.

Whiting said natural-coloured gemstones and diamonds were expected to be popular this summer. This might include unique or specialty cut diamonds, and warmer tones like champagnes and lighter yellows.

WhoWhatWear pointed out a Mejuri gemstone coil ring, similar to one that Taylor Swift has worn. An Axle Sapphire ring from Erede was also highlighted, but being handcrafted from 18-karat recycled yellow gold and retailing at around $4,000, it might take a Swift-esque bank balance to buy.

Wrapping Up

Jewelry in 2025 is about balance – striking statements with more delicate touches. Maximalism is reigning in earrings and rings, but minimalism isn’t completely out, with sleek necklaces and refined belts keeping things slightly more grounded. The real trend is personal expression – so mix, match, and wear what speaks to you.
