Meet Vicente Wolf the Amazing Visionary Behind VW Home

When it comes to the world of design, trailblazers are rare—and Vicente Wolf is definitely one of them. With over 40 years of interior design experience, Vicente has made a name for himself in the industry. Coming from a Cuban refugee background, he arrived in New York and soon became a force to be reckoned with by the early 1980s with his vision of sleek, modern aesthetics. He is considered a triple threat, backed with experience in the realms of residential, hospitality, and commercial interior design.
His full-service design company, VW Home, brings Vicente’s style to life: a quiet elegance that weaves contemporary touches with authentic artifacts sourced during his travels. Vicente is also credited for introducing the world to high-gloss walls (dubbing him “The White Knight”) and the use of leaning mirrors, black and white photographs, and oversized ottomans as coffee tables. That’s just the surface of his accomplishments—he has received many awards and major recognition throughout his successful journey, and it’s certainly not difficult to see why.
We had the amazing privilege of connecting with Vicente for our latest edition of Love Happens’ Design Questionnaire. Read on to learn all about Vicente’s wisdom when it comes to his creative designs!

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Survival.

What profession does your alter ego have?
A great dancer in 1950s musicals.
The design you will never forget.
An office for the lady of the house located on the Upper East Side. It’s timeless, whimsical, and enticing. The blank picture frames I included on the walls add texture and architectural interest.

Your favorite business tool or resource.
Paper, pencil, and the scale ruler.
The most timeless design.
One that is able to travel time and always have relevance to the present.

The biggest design faux pas.
To think that you can be a great designer without looking at the past or learning the tools of the trade.
Your design motto.
Do the best that you can, fight for what you believe, and keep looking forward.

Our publisher KOKET makes statement décor. If you were to design a room around one KOKET piece, which would it be, and why?
The Ribbon Broken Gold Leaf Dining Table—because it brings a sculptural sense to the space. A piece that would work very well with some traditional pieces or in a very modern, minimal space as the focal point in the room.
Love happens when….
You’re fulfilled with yourself, you’re not looking for Mr./Mrs. Right, and you are already living a fulfilled life and not waiting for somebody else to do it for you.
