East Meets West New Design Trend

East meets West is not a new concept in design, but it is definitely making appearances as a new design trend in 2022. And we are loving the look!

The East Meets West Look

A blending of cultures is at the core of the East meets West concept. A celebration of the human touch around the world. At Lh Mag, we are all about celebrating the human touch this year (check out Lh V5 if you haven’t already!). But we are also all about celebrating the new East meets West design trend. A look that showcases classic European artistry masterfully mixed with a fusion of oriental influenced Far East styles ranging from Japan and China to Indian themes.

East Meets West: A New Design Trend for 2022

We first saw this new design trend popping up at Maison & Objet Paris in January 2022. And then even more so at Homo Faber 2022, taking place in Venice this past Spring. A cultural experience of craftsmanship, the event featured 15 exhibitions, 22 curators and designers, 12 Japanese National Living Treasures, and over 850 unique works crafted by more than 400 designers and artisans from 43 countries.

With a special focus on Japan, the 2022 Homo Faber Event championed the talent and savoir-faire of European craftsmanship alongside the masters of Japanese craftsmanship. Showcasing a beautiful display of the East meets West trend.

A highlight of the event was its celebration of ‘living treasures’ of Europe and Japan in 15 unique exhibitions. Each exploring an array of themes, crafts, and techniques. Including an insight into Japan’s National Living Treasures and a celebration of Japan’s traditional heritage. The event also included a window into cultural collaborations between Europe and Japan. And through a diversity of materials and across sectors from theatre and interior design to jewelry and fashion.

KOKET Set to Bring East Meets West Trend to Milan

Next on our design agenda is one of the most influential design shows, Salone Internazionale del Mobile. And we hear leading luxury decor brand KOKET has big things in store! While much of the design industry pulls to a neutral pallet and smooth, relaxing lines. KOKET’s savoir-faire will be heading to Milan with a far more risqué East meets West look. Since its inception, KOKET has admired Eastern design while always rooted in its Western home. So while the trend may be new on the design scene, it is a beloved look for KOKET. Set to take place from June 7-12 in Pavillion 01, Stand F09, we cannot wait to see the new designs. And celebrate the power of a woman as a Goddess with them. Once again, the vivacious brand looks to be leading the way in new design trends!
