Basquiat X Warhol: Painting 4 Hands at Foundation Louis Vuitton
April 5 – August 28
Between 1984 and 1985, Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) and Andy Warhol (1928-1987) created around 160 paintings together in tandem, “à quatre mains”, including some of the largest works produced during their respective careers. Keith Haring (1958-1990), who witnessed their friendship and collaboration production, would go on to speak of a “conversation occurring through painting, instead of words” and of two minds merging to create a “third distinctive and unique mind”.
Jaune Quick-to-See Smith: Memory Map at Whitney Museum of American Art
April 19 – August 13
This exhibition is the first New York retrospective of Jaune Quick-to-See Smith (b. 1940, citizen of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation), an overdue but timely look at the work of a groundbreaking artist. Jaune Quick-to-See Smith: Memory Map brings together nearly five decades of Smith’s drawings, prints, paintings, and sculptures in the largest and most comprehensive showing of her career to date.
Kehinde Wiley: An Archaeology of Silence at Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
March 18 – October 15
American artist Kehinde Wiley’s new body of paintings and sculptures confronts the silence surrounding systemic violence against Black people through the visual language of the fallen figure. It expands on his 2008 series, Down — a group of large-scale portraits of young Black men inspired by Hans Holbein the Younger’s The Dead Christ in the Tomb (1521–1522). Wiley investigates the iconography of death and sacrifice in Western art, tracing it across religious, mythological, and historical subjects.
Luxury and Power: Persia to Greece at The British Museum

May 4 – August 13
Drawing on dazzling objects from Afghanistan to Greece, this exhibition moves beyond the ancient Greek spin to explore a more complex story about luxury as a political tool in the Middle East and southeast Europe from 550–30 BC. It explores how the royal Achaemenid court of Persia used precious objects as markers of authority, defining a style of luxury that resonated across the empire from Egypt to India.
Africa Fashion at The V&A
Closes on 16th April 2023
Spanning iconic mid-20th century to contemporary creatives through photographs, textiles, music and the visual arts, Africa Fashion will explore the vitality and global impact of a fashion scene as dynamic and varied as the continent itself.
Hallyu! The Korean Wave at The V&A
Closes on 25th June 2023
Hallyu! The Korean Wave showcases the colourful and dynamic popular culture of South Korea, exploring the makings of the Korean Wave and its global impact on the creative industries of cinema, drama, music, fandom, beauty and fashion. You can read Mad For You’s column on this subject here.
Donatello: Sculpting the Renaissance at The V&A

Adidas: Beyond the Streets London at Saatchi Gallery

Saatchi Gallery presents unprecedented street art exhibition: Beyond the Streets London, with over 150 of the most exciting internationally renowned artists of our time. Japan’s latest creations are showcased to the world at Shibuya Hikarie and Omotesando Hills, as well as other locations in Tokyo.
Seoul Fashion Week
March 15 – 19
Seoul Fashion Week, an event organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG), promotes Korean fashion (“K-fashion”) to the global community. With the advent of the untact (“contactless”) age, the SMG will roll out its “DDP Digital Runway” for the first time, and the event will break out of the conventional mold of fashion shows as it advertises K-fashion in an experimental way to lead the global design market in the fashion sector.
Shanghai Fashion Week

As a reputed City Name Card, Shanghai Fashion Week, relying on the urban heritage and cultural confidence of Shanghai, a century-old fashion capital, adheres to the positioning philosophy of “integration of local and international visions” and “balance between creative design and commercial implementation”. In the past 18 years, it has evolved from a mere fashion showcase platform to a fashion eco landscape which runs through the entire fashion industry.

Vancouver Fashion Week FW

Vancouver Fashion Week has grown to be the second-largest fashion week in North America–and continues to grow today as the fastest-growing fashion week in the world.
Met Gala 2023

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala, and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. CFDA Fashion Awards
Applications open on March 15th
The CFDA Fashion Awards honors excellence in fashion design. It’s like “the Oscars of fashion”. Nominations are submitted by the Fashion Guild, a group of over 1,500 CFDA members, fashion editors, retailers, and stylists.
Interior Design Spring Events 2023
TEFAF Maastricht
March 11 – 19
Widely regarded as the world’s pre-eminent organization for fine art, antiques, and design, TEFAF runs three Fairs internationally: TEFAF Maastricht, which covers 7,000 years of art history; TEFAF New York Spring, which focuses on modern and contemporary art & design; and TEFAF New York Fall, which covers fine and decorative art from antiquity to 1920.
TEFAF gives international dealers the platform to present museum-quality works of all eras and genres to a broad base of collectors and connoisseurs.
Art Basel Hong Kong

Abner Henry x The Met Collection
Launching March 29th
Over the course of three years, Ernest Hershberger, CEO of Abner Henry, alongside his Ohio-Amish-country-based team and artisans from around the globe to create a seven piece furniture collection with The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Inspired by iconic paintings at The Met from Degas to Renoir, the collection includes 24-karat gold dust hand blown into wood grooves, a mirror made of polished solid brass, and cutting-edge glass-blowing techniques never seen before. A far cry from the simplistic wooden furniture the Amish are known for, the collection is an artistically driven, modern interpretation of historic works of art reimagined by some of America’s furniture craftsmen.
