What is your idea of perfect happiness?

For me, perfect happiness is found in the moments spent with family and loved ones, experiencing new things, doing what I love every day, and having a positive impact on employees’ and clients’ lives through design.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement has been building our design firm from the ground up for over 16 years. Starting with very little, we’ve become one of the most respected names in the industry. But beyond the accolades, what truly matters is the positive impact we’ve had on our clients’ lives and communities. That journey, filled with hard work and dedication, fills me with immense pride and gratitude.

What profession does your alter ego have?

Drawing from my lifelong love for animals and my passion for portrait painting, my alter ego would be an artist, bringing awareness to wildlife conservation and animal welfare through captivating portraits that ignite empathy and inspire action.

The project you will never forget.

The project I’ll never forget is the transformation of my first house in Miami. Not only was it the first house I ever owned, but it was the first time I was my own client. My goal was to breathe new life into a classic Mediterranean home while preserving its architectural charm.

The most memorable part of the transformation was a Guggenheim-inspired white spiral staircase I designed, which became a stunning centerpiece for the home.

One year later, I took advantage of the unprecedented housing boom and sold the house for an amazing profit. It held the record for the highest price per square foot in the neighborhood, reinforcing the profound impact that interior design and staging can have on home value. This experience not only shaped my career but also underscored the transformative power of design in real estate.

Your favorite business tool or resource.

My favorite business tool is the power of collaboration. Working closely with my team and leveraging their diverse skills and perspectives allows us to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation. It’s inspiring to see how collective brainstorming and collaboration can elevate our design projects to new heights.

The most timeless design.

The most timeless design, in my opinion, is exemplified by the style of Kelly Hoppen, my favorite designer and the reason I embarked on this journey. Her signature blend of clean lines, neutral palettes, and luxurious textures transcends fleeting trends, creating spaces that exude elegance and sophistication.

This timeless aesthetic is rooted in a perfect balance of simplicity and warmth, making it enduringly appealing across generations and cultures.

The biggest design faux pas.

Two of the biggest design faux pas, in my view, are overuse of color and competing patterns. While color and pattern can add vibrancy and personality to a space, too much can overwhelm the senses and create visual chaos. Striking the right balance is key to creating harmonious and inviting interiors that stand the test of time.

Your design motto.

My design motto revolves around the mantra of “Harmony in Neutrals, Texture in Layers, Impact in Scale.”

By embracing neutral tones as a canvas, layering rich textures for depth and warmth, and incorporating oversized art for dramatic impact, I strive to create spaces that are timeless, inviting, and visually captivating.

Our publisher, KOKET, makes statement décor. If you were to design a room around one of their pieces, which would it be, and why?

Paris Travertine Marble Oval Dining Table: I’ve been loving the warmth of travertine for a while.

Serpentine Pear-Shaped Mirror:  I love a large-scale mirror, and this one is unique. Gives me Kelly Wearstler vibes.

Aberdeen Sofa: It’s the perfect loveseat for a banquette.

India Pull (High Gloss Aged Brass): I’ve been trying to figure out where to use this for years, but it’s going to happen.

Love Happens when…

…there’s trust and a sense of safety, when individuals root for and respect one another, and when they appreciate each other’s imperfections instead of hiding them, fostering a bond that withstands the trials of life.
