A New Era of Luxury: Inside the Reimagined Waldorf Astoria New York

After eight anticipatory years, Waldorf Astoria New York finally reopened its doors to guests in the summer of 2025. Blending a modern style of sophistication with an elegance that’s timeless, Waldorf Astoria carries on its famed tradition of flawless service and luxury amenities. Love Happens Mag is thrilled to add this beautiful hotel to our annual New York visits again!

Architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) collaborated with interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon to craft an elaborate and unique redesign. They strategically incorporated modern and contemporary styles, combined with the originality of the property, to create an iconic experience for guests. Attached to the hotel are the beautiful Waldorf Astoria Towers residential units and amenities for those looking to live the Waldorf Astoria life all the time!
The Art of Refined Living

The SOM team recreated historic lighting in the corridors of the landmark hotel. Authentic materials and finishes like original murals and marble were also delicately restored. Elevating the lobby experience, a grand piano sits in the famed Peacock Alley bar and lounge. Additionally, the Waldorf Astoria New York renovated all three ballrooms. This included the hotel’s Grand Ballroom, which opened in September. It also included its most colorful one, the Basildon Room, which focuses on original reds and greens.

Culinary Artistry, Design Heaven

Hailing from the reputable Gramercy Tavern, Chef Michael Anthony heads up the culinary team and oversees American Brassiere, Lex Yard (pictured above), Peacock Alley Bar (known for specialized cocktails), and an intimate asian-inspired restaurant, Yoshoku.
Suite Dreams Reimagined

Offering 372 guest rooms with unique layouts, Waldorf Astoria New York continues to exceed expectations of what it means to redefine luxury. Doubling in size with Art Deco sprinkled in style, the rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The excitement of an upcoming iconic stay, driven by elegance and luxury, you won’t want to miss this!
