On Our Shelf: Vendome Press

vendome press books - intoxicating savoir-faire love happens mag

Strap on your bookie boots—we’re leaning in and loving every moment of wandering through the breathtaking worlds crafted by Vendome Press. Named after the most elegant square in Paris, Vendome has been setting the gold standard for beautifully illustrated books since 1980, when founder Alexis Gregory—a consummate gentleman, world traveler, and tastemaker—set out to create publishing perfection.

Born in Zurich to Russian émigré parents, Gregory brought a life steeped in art, culture, and curiosity to his work. A Harvard graduate with top honors and an MBA from Wharton, he began his publishing career with renowned art publisher Albert Skira before founding Vendome. Fluent in six languages, a passionate collector, and a decorated recipient of France’s Legion d’Honneur, Gregory embodied the very essence of savoir-faire—the art of living beautifully.

His mission with Vendome was simple but profound: to create books as singular and stunning as the subjects within them. No cookie-cutter series here. Each title is a one-of-a-kind, crafted with meticulous attention to design, production, and detail—a true collaboration between author, editor, and artisan. From fine art and architecture to interiors, fashion, jewelry, and the culture of travel, Vendome’s books are bound treasures destined to both inspire and adorn.

Time to open those pretty peepers to the pages of the four intoxicating titles we’ve curated for our shelf from the Vendome Press collection. Of course, there are many more we adore—but consider this your gateway to a world where beauty, craftsmanship, and creativity converge. Your shelves (and your soul) will thank you.
